Who will be our third receiver/man the slot?

yea our WR position in two offseasons went from fire sale to a DC's worst nightmare.

thats alot of height, versatility, and speed. this is going to be one of the best competitions in training camp later this summer. i am actually extremely excited to see our top 3 WR + Olsen on the field. 

 

couple that with 3 other facts: 1) Cam is going to be healthy for the first time EVER, 2) we have legitimate talent on the offensive line now (not great, but adequate to give Cam 3 seconds at least), and 3) jonathan stewart will be a our feature back for the first time ever and we have a good committee behind him in case of injury. 

 

our offense is going to contend next year. our defense will be a nightmare for opposing offenses, and our special teams will be much improved.

Funchess' best position is probably a Colston like Big Slot

Agreed. I think that will be his ideal position in the NFL. I think he will struggle if he is used primarily on the outside against NFL corners, but he creates mismatches in the slot.

Meaning: Will the Panthers coaching staff allow Cam and the offense to roll up points, instead of always seemingly holding them back after acquiring a 14 pt lead (even during the 2nd qtr)??

 

Hopefully, both the offense and defense will have proverbial HANDCUFF's taken off next season.

i couldnt agree with you more. im thinking that, with all the talent, there is no excuse for Shula now. even if we make the playoffs, if our offense finishes the season below #20 in the league, Shula needs to be given his walking papers. there will be no excuse by the end of this season.

 

i am hoping Shula makes us all eat crow. but he is the only reason for pause for this season of Panther football

Yup Yup.

 

Shula and Rivera need to understand, 'some games your defense has a great game. And with/some others it can be your offense. So why always hold the offense back when they're scoring and moving the ball early?'

 

It's almost like they're scared off points since Chud left (and even with Chud, they held the team back as well). This is why the Panther are almost always in close games (and the "vaunted" defense has blown many late leads, regardless of their lofty rankings since Rivera's been here).

 

People usually forget, though the defense blew those leads, the Panthers starting run the ball up the middle with too much time left in the game (from the 3rd qtr many times). This is where both Rivera (in making those decisions), and Shula in executing them need to get better.
