La'El Collins may be in play after all

Either way, putting Collins in the same sentence as Carruth is absolutely tacky and unethical journalism. He's being questioned and has been explicitly stated as being "not a suspect".

That is like saying anyone whose friend is murdered might be the next Aaron Hernandez. It's just a lack of respect for the system and the person.

But again...didn't want to make this about Voth.

Disagree on this one, but I understand.

if he is guilty, no problem, just cut him.

In post-Rice/Peterson/Hardy/HERNANDEZ NFL this would be a massive problem PR-wise, and would probably lose the league money/sponsors. Now that's not right, but it's the reality of the situation now.

We should have kept a 7th and pulled the trigger tbh

With him threatening to not sign a contract and re-enter the draft next year if drafted on day 3, it could be argued that we had a better shot of him playing for us this year with him going undrafted.

Was he one of our visits? How much interest did we show? I'm guessing he might be inclined to go to one of the teams who showed interest in him during the draft process over somebody who just wants him now that the talent-value ratio simply can't be ignored. I'm sure that, like most players, there were teams who told him "If you're there when we pick, we're going to pick you." Wouldn't be surprised if that's a big factor in his decision.

We met with him at the combine

I think bringing up Carruth isn't tackey because JR and this organization changed with that case. You have to remember JR is in charge and we all know if he puts his foot down about character issues it is law. Even with him being completely innocent the mere notion might turn JR away from Collins. I think voth is just pointing out that aspect of the team and not correlating this young man and Carruth. It's the owners mind set and it might prevent us even considering Collins

I think he just meant why Panthers would be cautious because of sensitivity to matters like this because of Carruth incident.

I didn't think Voth was judging Collins. Just explaining why Panthers would be hesitant (apparently like every other NFL team)

Collins' agent didn't really help matters.
