CarolinaCoolin won't take kindly to you guys throwing shade on the Chipper.

Funny you should mention Chip...

Speaking on the NFL Network, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly refuted statements made by quarterback Mark Sanchez last month that The Golden Calf of Bristol was signed solely as a practice arm.

"No. I think everybody here that we bring to our organization is here to compete for a job. That's what Timmy is going to do," Kelly said. "He's an unbelievable competitor."

"We needed another guy to throw while Sam's (Bradford) still recovering," Sanchez said, according to CSN Philadelphia. "So that's the reason (for the signing), at least as explained to me."

There may be some truth to that, because Bradford is not expected to be ready for the beginning of OTA's next month.

But if Sanchez thought The Golden Calf of Bristol wasn't going to be competing for a job, it sounds like he was mistaken.

"If we were just going to have guys throw drills," Kelly said, "we'd take [Mike] Mayock in the offseason and bring him down here and let him throw to them."

Chip Kelly: Eagles didn't sign The Golden Calf of Bristol just to have him practice

Yeah, this could be fun

Ah, the ever turbulent world of Greg Hardy...

Seems the Cowboys are trying to find a polite way of telling him to shut up.

Garrett to Hardy: Distinguish yourself with how you play, not what you say

In response, Hardy's Twitter (now going by 'The Villain King') has messages on it like "last fan chance" and "goodbye forever", but remains open.

Makes me wonder if he actually plans to shut it down or if he's just fishing for fans to beg him to keep it.

Something tells me it's the latter.

I believe Chip is trying to brain wash his own team. Any veteran or leader presence is gone. Any big personally: gone.

A bunch of guys that are able to be molded to what you want.

Prob a smart move on his part. Reed was a players coach and that means there were players there that needed ego stroking. Kellys system is only effective if everyone buys in.

Hardy needed a team like the Panthers to keep him on the rails. Guy is prob in a dark place right now with the thought of missing almost two years of football.

Bill Parcells used to do that.  He convinced guys they were nothing without him.

It worked back then.  With today's players?  Eeehhh...

In the old days, Dallas never really tried to rein their players in.  They just did an excellent job of covering up their indiscretions.

That's why you never heard about stories like Michael Irvin stabbing teammate Everett Mciver in the neck with a pair of scissors (just to get his hair cut sooner) or Charles Haley masturbating in the locker room (and telling guys he was fantasizing about their wife) until years later.

These days, with the new NFL policies, cameras and smart phones and social media everywhere, covering up for someone is next to impossible, though you could argue Jerry Jones still has some sway in Dallas (like when Wal Mart "lost" the security video of Dez Bryant).

Still, the Cowboys now actually have to put some effort to keeping their bigger headcases on a leash, and it's something they may not be very good at because they've never really done it much.

Meanwhile, back in Chip Land, looks like Kelly's changes aren't just off the field.

#Eagles axe director of college scouting Anthony Patch, pro personnel director Rick Mueller, SW area scout Brad Obee, Daily News has learned

These are Howie guys “@brettr527: @LesBowen lol even after a solid draft Chip axes his scouting staff? Where they hired by Howie?”

"Howie" being Howie Roseman, the former Eagles GM who hired Chip Kelly and who has since been effectively replaced by him

These days, Roseman has a bigger title - Executive Vice President of Football Operations, to be specific - but no real power to do anything.

(wonder if he's had any second thoughts about this hire)

And oddly enough...

Greg Hardys farewell to Twitter wasn't final

After posting a “Goodbye 4ever” tweet that prompted Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com to point out that the “Cowboys sure hope so,” Hardy retweeted various hostile fan responses to MacMahon, including one that called MacMahon an “asshat” and one that dubbed MacMahon a “d–krider.”

Right or wrong, love him or hate him, Hardy is being Hardy.  But if the Cowboys indeed suggested that Hardy pull the plug on Twitter, the plug has yet to be pulled.

Florio speculates Hardy might actually be wearing out his welcome...

At some point, it’s hard not to wonder whether the Cowboys will pull the plug on Hardy.  With $1.3 million committed to Hardy in workout bonuses, calling it quits in the wake of a 10-game suspension for domestic violence and subsequent behavior that suggests he doesn’t really get it would save the Cowboys some money and potentially win them some major style points.

Hardy is acting out like a child after a divorce who just wants to go home. The big D is too much for him. He can't take it all. Charlotte is in his blood. Just like when Smitty was talking all that poo last season. We build dedicated soldiers for the Panther Army.

I don't really think he has a home here anymore, though.

Not at this rate. I will admit when im wrong and that man Hardy really has gone off the rails. He is just proving the NFL right for giving him 10 games.
