Panthers Not Done At Wide Receiver

Your talking yourself into the pick(for me its pickS) skills are much better than mine. Not going to waste time, with loads of crying/bitaching.

I have understood UM QB didn't help, nor did his combine #s. Everyone playing football has injuries, but aware of his toe and others. Still it burns seeing strong there @ 57 and keepin the picks. Ricky and dave are two of most respected football minds on the panthers staff and they wanted him badly. Plus it did prevent falcunts and iants a shot at replacing a tony/graham.

What I'm currently having I HUUUUUUUGGE issue with is this: Rather than "fix" cam, the panthers brass are finding the biggest, longest, tallest, highest vert, catch raidus, etc possible to give cam the best target for his "off target" passes. I even heard cam talking about it was harder to see small WRs too( shortly after smitty left). Correct your eyes and fix throwning mecanhics, rather than ignore it. Don't get this wrong, I do want big long windspan(jesus where's jay bias). I mean if cam starts throwning worm burners, are they going to wavie all the tall WRs and replace them with 5'5 water bugs types? Ugh

It's about creating matchup problems more than trying to "not fix" Cam.

I understand alot of that is playcalling, but no longer will we have to deal with watching Bersin and Cotchery be second or third reads in crucial red zone situations.

Worth noting that Cam revitalized 5'8 Steve Smith's career and flat out resurrected 5'11 Ted Ginn's.

I find it funny that folks are screaming "Help Cam out!" and when they give him some help it's "Wait! This isn't the help I was talking about!"

that's a bit of a reach, of a thought process.

They aren't ignoring anything about Cam.

I prefer to see it as the rather obvious reasoning....

big, tall receiving targets create more match up problems. Even when they seem to be covered, they aren't truly.

I prefer the bigger receivers, they are much more difficult to defend.

I am pushing it some, I had the thought shortly after I logged out last night.

Bubble screens, WRs in space, crossing routes are super hard to defend too. Just best gimmie the best WRs, they don't have to be 6'5" with a 84' windspan. I feel like this is becoming a basketball topic.

I would love it if we somehow picked up Kenny Bell.

Yeh, I really like Hardy and Greene but I'm not sold either will fall enough. I think Kenny runs a sub 4.4 and is about 6ft. Would love this pick, especially if we could get him in the 5th. I really want Langford in the 4th.

Yep it seems that's answer "matchups" . Now if you view funch as a TE, plus KB, olsen and dickerson. That's seems like a goaline package or short yardage package. I know dave said fuch is a WR. Making a spot on the field for both top picks. Fuch isn't TE or slot or WR or h-back, he's a ____ .

Please dont put me in the " gettledouche is ruining pantherz and out to kill cam career" crowd. I said in the past cam has had #1.5 WR, olsen, and a running game. #2 WR will have to fight for targets here. Plus shula.......

the team might find receiver BPA at some point but they are not somehow in desperate need of a receiver, now that they have a fresh rookie with a first round grade and five guys with NFL experience they truly like, on a team that's probably going to dress four guys ... and a Pro Bowl TE.   On an offense that doesn't throw the ball a ton.

Valid, but a guy like Crowder could potentially be a long term successor to Ginn.

Thompson would be an amazing addition, just not sure about the trade. They already gave up two picks.

From a couple of things I've read, especially Gettleman's "tough for nine picks to make the roster" comment, I think he deliberately lessened the number of picks to heighten the probability that all draftees are able to play a role on the team.

So yeah, wouldn't surprise me at all to see us trade up again.

On Friday the Panthers traded up and addressed their need for a wide receiver. The selection of Devin Funchess adds another large target to the mix of receivers and helps to put the fans at ease.

However, I don't feel the Panthers are done at receiver yet. I look for them to add a smaller, speedier receiver this weekend.

The Panthers do like ECU receiver Justin Hardy, but they also like Duke receiver Jamison Crowder just as much if not more. Depending on how the cards are played, either of these could be a Panther by the days end. There is a chance Crowder will go undrafted due mainly to his size (5'8), in which case he would come to Carolina as a UDFA.

Yeah exactly what I was saying last night
