The only thing that means is that one NFL GM didn't agree, but unfortunately that was the one that mattered for us.  No one knows where 31 other GMs would have taken Funchess.

The Panthers have a guy on staff that combs over the needs of the teams ahead of them to make sure their NEED is available. Gettleman saw his coveted WR NEED would not be available and it forced him to move up. The truth is out there.

The fact that not only our GM but around 3-5 WR needy teams passed on him after the 57th to when he was picked tells me there's something going on.

Something you have to keep in mind. Sometimes a player is a consensus 2nd or 3rd round pick and he's completely off the Panthers board for nor obvious reason. Donte Moncreif was off the Panthers board. When they interview these guys and study them they make decisions for reasons we will never know. The one common theme with Funchess and Shaq is inteligence. Maybe they value that more than whatever you have seen on tape.

TJ Clemmings and Fisher were in the discussion for us and Gettleman made it clear they were not in his plans tonight. Morgan Moses was the same last year. So it's tough to say "we could have gotten this guy later" when that guy was never on the board for them. Honestly I think Gettleman wanted to make sure Funchess was a Panther and not a Saint or Falcon.
