Is Gettleman and Rivera trying to recreate the 2009 Chargers?

In 2009 Ron Rivera was Defensive Coordinator for a Chargers Team that went 13-3 with the 4th ranked offence in the league (With Rob Chudzinski as Assistant HC). 3 guys combined for 3100 yards. Vincent Jackson (1167YDs/9TDs), Antonio Gates (1157YDs/8TDs) and Malcom Floyd (776YDs/1TD) in a Air Coryell offence with an aging LaDanian Tomlinson producing only 700 yards and change Philip Rivers really took ownership of the team.
Those 3 guys are all tall height/weight/speed guys with big hands who create a lot of mismatches for opposing teams 1on1 because they still have to respect the Run Game

VJax: 6ft5/240/4.46 - Kelvin Benjamin 6ft5/240/4.61
Floyd: 6ft5/225/4.44 - Funchess 6ft4/235/4.48
Gates: 6ft4/260 - Olsen 6ft5/250

The Offensive Line for the Chargers that year? Marcus McNeil - Kris Dielman - Nick Hardwick - Louis Vasquez ® - Jerome Clary.. not exactly a star studded cast there either

With Cams big arm and tendency to throw high this might just be a coincidence, but Rivera has seen a young QB come in to his own with big bodied, big handed recievers that gives him confidence to sling it

Thoughts?

That offensive line is 500x better than what the Panthers have right now.

Just saying...their fans found out they were after some of those guys were brought in as no names and late rounders.

Too early to tell what we will be. The only guy struggling at the end of the year was Bell. I hope that either Oher or Martin can handle the left side. After all a rookie hopefully will sit for a while and learn. It works for us with Remmers last year. I think with a year experience for Turner he will be a force this year. I am already 500x more optimistic about this years line than last year. I think we will get our OT in the 5th.
