New team president: Danny Morrison

It means that for the executive types, their "busy time" is over. The decisions are made and the mechanisms set in place. The "football" side of things is just heating up, but the "business" side is going into hiatus.

Hence, not a bad time for a transition. It gives Morrison time to grow into the job before he'll be saddled with major responsibilities.

Of course, Morrison himself may prefer to "hit the ground running" instead, but he doesn't have to.

From what I hear from my contacts inside the stadium, Jon caught Mark stealing some of his allowance money. Jon then gave Mark a wedgie, and Mark went and told mom. Mom, in hysterics, went to JJR, who said "Damn it, woman, can't you see I'm busy?" Later, the family was headed to Bojangles when Mark complained that Jon kept moving in on his side of the back seat. JJR pulled over, undid his belt and the boys clammed up in a hurry. The final straw was when Mark gave JJR a baseball hat that said "Panther Dad" on the front, but "Sucks" on the back.

Take it for what it's worth.

The week before the opener is not a bad time for a transition? Granted, neither one of these positions have a huge affect on the football side but they do have an affect on how the franchise is perceived by players/staff/fans and the league.

This is a highly unusual executive removal/replacement and I honestly don't buy any spin to the contrary. Just my 2 cents.

Business operations-wise, what's the most crucial time for an NFL team? I say (and I said yesterday) that it's the "off season," the draft, the actual putting together the team and the mechanics. A week before the season starts isn't crucial in the sense of business operations ... all that work is done and it's time to roll out the new model, so to speak.
