Yes, Shaq was indeed the BPA

Like I said, it's not bad or anything just off-putting. Love what he does here, no joke...just needs to tone down the "I'm right and know everything that's really going on in the org" attitude. It's all in the vernacular.

Did he hurt your feelings with his big words?

So, you're saying if Peat was still there at 25, Carolina would still have selected Thompson?

C'mon, Jeremy, you're starting to sound like a propagandist. Peat is starting tomorrow while Thompson may get there in a year or 2.

Peat stands straight up in pass protection and is going to get bull rushed to the ground. I'm not very high on him

Humphries and Shaq rated nearly equally.

One of their favorite two players left on the board would be available without trading.

Smart move was to stay put.

For me OT is just inherently worth the trade up because of how important the position is. I won't argue that Gettleman feels the same way, because he clearly doesn't, I just wish he did.

Before I drank some of that snake oil that Gettleman was selling last year, I was of the opinion that Bell and Chandler were shaky at the very best, and I was also of the opinion that our wide receiving corps was extremely uninspiring and lacking. Well, I hate to tell you, I was correct on both accounts.

Of those OTs and WRs, Gettleman only took one as a BPA in the 1st R. And he did great: Kelvin Benjamin. The other guys you mention sucked, but like Gettleman said, they were dollar store signings because we didn't have the cap space.

Nope just expressing my unpopular opinion that will likely get bashed.  He's connected and knows stuff, but the rest of us are content on the outside looking in and don't want to come here for gloating about who was right in prognosticating a football draft.

I remember everyone being really confused when Seattle took Bruce Irvin a couple years back. Seemed to work out OK .

I mean, the team has prospered since then, but I'm not sure if Bruce Irvin, he of the 16.5 career sacks, is even a top 10 reason why they've been so good. People were also really confused when the Eagles traded up in 2010 and took Brandon Graham over Earl Thomas. That one didn't really pan out. Usually confusing picks are confusing for a reason.

I would be 100% on board with the Shaq pick if I thought there was any chance of the Panther drafting La'el Collins (assuming they did enough due diligence to determine that he wasn't involved in the murder of his ex.) We all know that won't happen, though. I don't think the Shaq pick is a bad pick, just a little odd, but their board is their board and by know we all can expect them to take the top name on that board in the first round. Not all of us are going to see players the same way the FO does. I would like for them to end up with Collins and Tyler Lockett after their next two picks; that would make me a very happy camper after three rounds. Solid chance that both those guys are off the board by the time Carolina's third rounder comes around though, not to mention that Collins is a pipe dream with all the heat on him.

I'll ask him next week if no one else does.

“I’m still speechless right now because I’ve been talking to my agent, and he’s been saying anywhere from the 20th pick to the 55th pick. So I’ve just had my whole mindset set on the second round because that’s the type of person I am. I don’t expect the best. So I was just sitting, waiting around with my family, and I got the call. It was crazy. I was smiling. I was just happy.”

You don't expect the best?? So we drafted a guy in the first round that didn't even have enough confidence in himself to be a first rounder?? Unbelievable

I think how boring and dragged out at times the 1st round was last night (all those damn commercials) isn't helping.

What the huddle needs is a damn good round 2 and 3, and things will be right back on track.
