Yes, Shaq was indeed the BPA

My main complaint is: if we had Humphries rated that highly, we should have gone up and got him. Everybody and their mother knew AZ was taking him. Disappointed we didn't move ahead of Det. bc this would have been the year to trade up.

Humphries and Shaq rated nearly equally.

One of their favorite two players left on the board would be available without trading.

Smart move was to stay put.

Your elusive language paired with your high confidence in sources has been pretty off-putting this offseason (right or not).  Not saying its bad or anything but you're making yourself out to be quite on a high horse.  I'd ease it up a bit.

all I can say is that we now have our JOKER .... If you like defense, you should be in love with this pick. Our defense will be at the top of the league for many years to come now.

I really think we are done with the defense unless a pass rusher drops.

Shaq is the best overall athlete in the draft--you can change defenses to accommodate his talent.  He could play SS, OLB, RB, and special teams.

Our LBs are a fraternity--brothers in nearly every way.  If TD is singing this guy's praises, then I assume he has what it takes.

why should we listen to someone who throws parties that panthers players show up at and has proven sources inside the organization when we've got you

So, you're saying if Peat was still there at 25, Carolina would still have selected Thompson?

C'mon, Jeremy, you're starting to sound like a propagandist. Peat is starting tomorrow while Thompson may get there in a year or 2.

You don't draft a guy in the 1st to sit. He will play somewhere.

90% of the people on here beg for scoops wherever they can get it. He's been provided info for us and it's been accurate. People want to know what Gman was thinking....this is what he was thinking.

Shaq was only the best player in the minds of Gettleman and his little minions.

Look, I like the guy---Gettleman and Shaq---but neither were the BPA last night.

you ask 32 GMs who the BPA at #25 was and you're not going to get an agreement on who that was. But as much as Gettleman preaches BPA, even taking BPA when it makes him look "brain damaged," yes, Shaq was Gettlemen's BPA. Would other GMs disagree? Of course. Would people in our own scouting department disagree? Of course. Will others like you, other fans, people in the media, etc disagree? Of course. But it was Gettlemen's call, and he took his BPA, not yours or anybody elses that disagreed with him that Shaq was the BPA at #25.

Yep.

The very fact that he chose to draft a position that was not the most in need tells you it was absolutely a BPA move.

This is common sense, right?

TLDR: BPA is relative and really doesn't mean poo.

Like I said, it's not bad or anything just off-putting.  Love what he does here, no joke...just needs to tone down the "I'm right and know everything that's really going on in the org" attitude.  It's all in the vernacular.

Some discounted his value because he is a tweener--we saw the versatility.  If he carries 230, he is a good LB.  If he carries 215, he is our best SS.  I think they have a plan that makes him the bpa.  A need for a hybrid player (joker) who can give the d options.

I think we add a CB in the next two or three rounds, and I would love to see help at DE and DT.

I have to think WR in the second round, but if a T is there, they take him.
