Davis and Kuechly are so good that we tend to overlook how weak our 3rd linebackers have been, particularly in coverage.

people are really missing this point. one of Shaq's strengths is coverage. he is a safety/OLB. i think he will start out as the challenger to Roman Harper since Harper sucks azz at everything. but even if he cant win the starting position, thats fine because no one is going to be able to pass to a TE or run the ball with a this set on the field: Johnson-Short-Lotulelei-Ealy backed up by Kuechly/Davis/Thompson.

Shaq will be the starting WLB, and assist on special teams, may see some time as a SS in heavy run sets. We weren't going to draft a starting LT at #25 with what was available. Shaq Thompson = IMMEDIATE IMPACT.
