ESPN's Analysis of Our Pick, And Why I Feel It Was The Wrong Pick

"He's luck hte NFC South is on a decline while we get better."

????????

I gues Andrew Luck is Lucky that everyone in the AFC South sucks then. But ya'll can't ge tthe Colts GMs nuts out a'll mouths.

Difference is the Colts still manage a winning record. We were 7-8-1 last year and were flat out embarrassed in a lot of games last year. But hey good luck with Bersin being the #1 option in a playoff game in the redzone.

I'll shut right up about WR if we can land Devin Smith or Strong tomorrow even though I'm not a huge fan of Strong. He and Smith are the best of the rest.

Coates, Conley, Diggs, Hady, McBride and Lockette are all also Day 2 possibilities.

Crazy thing is other teams are STILL drafting WRs and have a better corps than us to begin with. Ive never seen a QB as good as Cam get so little help. Winston already has a better group than Cam, you could argue Derek fuging Carr has a better group. Hell the Jets have a better group. It's unacceptable.

I hear ya man. We have this QB with seemingly unlimited potential and may never get to witness it. He needs people to grow with. Right now Kelvin is the only longterm guy in our passing game. Olsen has a handful of years left. Cotch and Ginn will be gone in another year or two. Philly is a question mark.

I should probably just go to bed. Sleep on it. Think about it tomorrow. I just genuinely feel bad for Cam and always put myself in his shoes while watching the draft. Winston already has two stud receivers. Carr gets Cooper. Tannehill now has Stills, Jennings, DeVante Parker. Luck now has arguably the best group of receivers in the league.

I know where you're coming from. I'm scared to death knowing I have more faith in Oher, Remmers, and Jon Martin at tackle than I do Jericho Cotchery and Ted Ginn as #2 WRs.

I don't know the ins and outs of the contract. But I wouldn't be shocked if Brown moves over to #2, Ginn is #3, draft pick is #4 and Cotchery is cut during TC.

I really don't have any emotion towards the Shaq pick tonight. He's a playmaker...good athlete, versatile. But Dorsett is a world class athlete at a dire position of need and offers a skill set nobody on this roster even comes close to possessing. I'll probably like the pick once the season gets going and he makes plays but every time Luck hits Dorsett for a 50+ yard touchdown I'll just be shaking my head when we are running vertical routes with Cotchery, Ted Ginn, and Corey Brown.

Yeah, I just don't understand it though... GMan said going into the offseason that WR was our biggest need, especially speed... He signed Ginn and apparently that was all we needed in his opinion... I'm not even gonna bring up Boykin, lol. The problem is, we know what Ginn is. He is a returner who can be used situationally as a WR to stretch a defense, but his hands are unreliable.

Dorsett is dumb fast, AND CAN CATCH. Michael Irvin made that a point of emphasis when he was selected... Compared him to Desean Jackson and said it's not often you get guys with track speed AND can catch like a reciever. He was there... Exactly what we needed... And we took a defensive tweener.

Yea people want to talk about how Cam isn't going anywhere. But watching the draft has to be frustrating for him, he's human. I think we only drafted KB last year because Cam was probably voicing frustrations behind the scenes, hence the "I don't think Cam is mad at me anymore" from Gettleman

Why do we have to use are early picks on defense? why?  why can't we go defense in the later rounds?

Its funny people keep bringing up how Gettleman hit on his picks last year, the only reason half of them even started was cause we were that bad. And even with them starting we still struggled. Guess what I would trade Ealy, Boston, Bene and for Martavis Bryant, John Brown and Allen Robinson in a heart beat.

I already said this team is more interested in contending 3 years from now than next year. Well Cam might not want to stay here and with that thinking Gettleman might get fired

I just don't understand the bandaid approach to the offense. It's like they make bs moves just to say their doing something. How convenient is it to say well we were going to draft a tackle but he was picked right before us

If Shaq was the BPA then I have no problem with the pick. Gettlemen and company just better hope he's the BPA.

What baffles me are those that don't care that he was BPA because you have your heart dead set on one position.

Strong, Perimman, Dorsett, Smith, Fisher, Clemmons. These are the legit offensive players we could have picked. So who do you wished we would have drafted. It's easy to complain about a pick when you don't make one yourself. So you chose? Who? I'd take Shaq over all of them, (I like Smith and Dorsett tho)

Ps: anybody envying the Colts should go take a look at their messages boards. They're not happy, you know why? Because their defense is ass and Grigson picked a 4th string WR in the first round. But Grigson went BPA just like Dave did. And that's the philosophy I prefer.

That's good we don't need depth or starters at any other position. Just WR. Nothing but WRs.

Why couldn't the offense score? There was no one that could take the top off of the defense, ALL of our WRs outside of maybe Philly struggle to get separation consistently and probably give Cam the smallest windows to fit passes into. You put that up against a team with championship-level defense and an offense with a wide array of weapons (power runner, shifty receivers, tall/fast receivers, accurate QB with scrambling ability), and it becomes obvious who would win.

Sorry to tell you, Philly doesn't get separation either.
