I think TD has a much better concept of who is a better version of himself than any of us do, yes.

GM's whiff on comparisons and picks every year. They actually get paid to do that for a living as opposed to TD.

Shaq might very well turn out to be a better TD, or he could also flop. Or turn out to be a serviceable player.

No one knows.

I wanted Humphries pretty badly but once he was off the board there weren't too many players I thought were better than Shaq. Honestly, it's just unfortunate that the draft broke the way it did. If La'el Collins wasn't off everyone's board Humphries might have lasted another pick.

In a weird way, my ultimate feelings on the Shaq pick will be tied to the rest of this draft. We desperately need help at OT and WR. If at least one of those positions isn't addressed on day 2 I'm going to be worried.

C, I liked the pick, just not at that spot.  I really think we could have traded back a few spots and got the same guy which I was ok with.  I think Shaq is gonna be a good player for us, in fact, maybe even a great player, cant hurt to keep our strengths strong.  I fully understand why we went the way we did, the #6-7 receiver isn't worth a first round pick, the #5-6 OT is MAAAYBE worth the first round pick, but he could be the best OLB in the draft and will move up.  I think if we make a move to get get Jake Fisher in the second round, then I'm completely good with this draft pick.  As for people clamoring for Receiver, we have guys in the middle rounds who will be decent, give me a guy like Tyler Lockett and we'll have a serviceable receiving corps with KB at #1, Brown/Ginn as the speed guy, Locket/Hardy in the slot, and Olsen roaming the middle.  Tonight will be interesting.

F for reach

I call BS.  A reach would have been grabbing any of the WR's or OT's because they are positions of need.  We took BPA who will have a specific role on D when facing spread offenses and 2TE sets.  A reach would have been a guy that doesn't also immediately improve our Special Teams play in both returns and coverage.

This was a fantastic pick.  Throwing down your toys and whining doesn't make you the new GM.
