Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson

Everyone complains about another defensive player because the NFL is now an 'offensive league'. Yet the seahawks are one play away from being back to back champions. Does anyone realize how we are closing the gap on them talent wise? Anytime I hear a comparison to Kam chancellor I can't say I'm upset. We are beginning to be built to compete with anyone

It will get them closer than we will come if we can not move the ball against Seattle. Seattle will run stuff and then dare us to throw and without weapons to throw to Cam will get picked off because nobody is open. I do not trust Stewart to stay healthy and there were other picks here that made more sense than picking at a player at our strongest position.

So who specifically did you want at this position? We can then look back and see which one of us was right.

So... you think the draft is over, or a 1st round WR is the only one that can be a great WR for us?

I think the best speed receivers (our biggest need outside of OT) is done. We had some options there and instead we chose to ignore Cam and pick a player (who is talented by the way I do not doubt it) at a position we are the strongest at.

Either Perriman or Smith and as far as speed receivers go they were the best in this draft in my opinion. Anyone can be wrong and I do not doubt the talent of Shaq he is a great player but not anywhere near our biggest need.

Seattle was able to put up points on us when they needed to.

When we needed points our OL crumbled and we had guys like Bersin as the #1 read.

Seattle obviously has a stacked defense, but they have some damn good talent on offense too.

Colts fans complaining about literally the opposite of what some Panthers fans are complaining about, lol.

panther fans: "oh god i can't believe our GM added another body to a stacked position group!  there are only so many snaps to go around!  terrible pick"

colts fans: "oh god i can't believe our GM added another body to a stacked position group!  there are only so many snaps to go around!  terrible pick"

oh and there's this one team in our conference keeping us from super bowl glory and if only we would have drafted a (defensive/offensive player) we'd be able to compete with them but nooooooooo

Here is a creative response maybe both picks were not needed?

While I sorta like the pick, what ever happened to BPA?

With OT and WR being the most pressing need and Perriman being the highest rated available, why wasn't he drafted?

Panthers said Shaq was BPA on their board when the pick came up.

As long as it's still the team with the most points that gets the W, having an offense that can put points on the board should be considered "helping the team win". Look at the college game right now. The NFL's trending in that direction, too.

We are building a team to win, not just make Cam look good
