Bears shopping TE Martellus Bennett

Saints can't afford his contract even with the most creative of deals. I'm sure they'd love to give up one of their 3rd's for him if they could though.

How much is his contract for? I'm assuming it's going to be top TE money.

Olsen is the much more proven producer though.  He's coming off of a 1000 yard season and has had three consecutive 800+ yard seasons.  You can also pencil in 5-6 TDs a year for him too.  Bennett only has one 800+ yard season in his entire career.  Olsen averaged 60+ yards per game last year and has averaged 50+ for three consecutive years.  Bennett has only 50+ypg once.

 

I guess it all comes down to what you think he can be in your system, but $8-10M per year would be STEEP.  You'd be making him one of the top 3-4 paid TEs in the league.

 

Clay has never had more than 800 yards in a season and Cameron is one concussion away from calling it a career although that is reflected in the length of the deal(2 years) and low guaranteed money. We got a good deal for Olsen. He could have almost certainly gotten much more if he was on the open market.

Right now it's $5M and he'll want $8M minimum. He's wants to get a guaranteed money payday before his skills start declining.

That would just be nasty, Bennett and Olsen locked up for next several years... A man can dream! We've seen what our offense can look like with 2 great TEs. Make it happen Gettleman, and figure out the money sitiation.

 

what a coinkydink. i signed Bennett to a contract in my second season of Madden13. and yes, the two-TE sets with him and Olsen were redonkulous. 

 

unfortunately, this didnt actually happen in 2014 like it did in my Madden fantasy land...

I love the 2-TE sets, but we'd be buying at the high point, which the Panthers do not do. Maybe if he lost a foot in a boating accident... Then we'd be in business.

Oh, and we already have 2 other TE's on this team that are viable (I still believe that Swole can play).
