A look at players the Panthers might consider with 25th pick: Phillip Dorsett

I'm no pro scout or anything but I see a lot wasted motion on some of his routes. Very crisp in others. But boy, does he get upfield and out of his breaks in a hurry. Looks like a gazelle out there. If anyone can teach him the art of running routes it's Proehl. I'd feel very comfortable taking him.

Pretty much how I feel. He has all the athleticism and ability to become an elite route runner under Proehl. Couple that with his speed, and he'd be extremely hard to defend. He's a threat to take it to the house every time the ball is in his hands.

I'm just not sure how high the Panthers are on him.  Gettleman loves his big guys and Dorsett is one of the smallest players in the this year's draft.  Evidently we were looking hard at Brandin Cooks last year though and he's similarly sized.

He was rated lower than Benjamin IIRC

Like Cooks last year I think he goes before we pick, seems to happen every year with my player crush.

if so, draft Shaq. or better yet... draft Shaq first and trade up in the second if Dorsett is still there at 45th overall. if not, thats okay. we can get more speed in the mid-rounds. we CANT get another player like Shaq. im riding the Shaq bandwagon hard. haha

Yeah some of those out routes could be much cleaner, but overall he's pretty solid in his routes in that video.

Wow, a few months ago, I thought he was projected in the third or later... Admittedly, I didn't look much into it, but I loved what I saw from him. Now he's being talked about in the first.

I desperately hope he or Smith is the pick for us in the first. I would feel 100x better about our receiving corps if that happens and will fap to failure.

You are correct Sir, he was initially mocking into the 4th which I knew was complete BS. I told everyone on this board that he would shoot up the boards and he has. Now the sentiment is that we'd be reaching if we picked him up at #25, but the reality is that he likely won't be available at 25, but we'll see.

This is my guy, I had been going back and forth on him and Perriman all year, but after reading the scouts' comments on him I don't want Perriman at all.

Dorsett is the pick we should make imo if he's there. If he's gone, this board will laugh at whatever team picked him until he actually plays on Sundays; at which point, people will be mad that he didn't drop to us. Such is life and the NFL draft.

I would definitely be on board with this pick.  People have to remember that any receiver we get, he will have KB on the other side doing his thing.  So the chances of any receiver we select becoming a probowl type are dramatically increased.  That said, Dorsett has awesome speed to burn the top off any defense.

I agree his speed is nice and would compliment Kelvin Benjamin.

I know you and I are U homers and we both want Dorsett to be a Panther...badly. But I'm concerned that since he is my official 2015 Draft Crush (brought to you by refreshing taste of Orange Crush - the official soft drink of draft nerds everywhere) that there is zero chance the Panthers will get him. I truly believe Dorsett would be an impact player this season and for many more.

That video was amazing. Definitely a little sloppy but great hands, body control, smooth running and the speed...wow. No one on the field could catch him in open space. Literally no one. Want.

He's so much more than straight line speed, that's what people that aren't U homers don't see. I told everyone he would shoot up boards well before his pro day, and look what happened. I know talent when I see it, and this guy will be great for years to come.
