  • Landon Collins, SS post-15487-0-65254700-1430272391_thumb.j
Do I personally like Collins? No.

Do the Panthers like Collins? I think so.

Collins may not be my favorite prospect, but he does have some things going for him. He is fantastic at stopping the run, and is the hard hitting safety that Ron Rivera has clamored for. Although not the best in pass coverage, the negative rep he gets for it is overblown. In the right scheme Collins can be a pro bowler, which I believe the panthers have.

I don’t think he is one of the highest on the panther’s board, but I also don’t see the draft falling the way our front office would like it to.

2. Jaelen Strong, WR post-15487-0-82405500-1430272423_thumb.j

Strong was a projected first rounder before an injury to his wrist was discovered. The wrist could keep him out for a couple of weeks, but the potential of Strong is very high. Strong is a big receiver with fantastic hands. He has sneaky athleticism but doesn’t always play up to it on the field. Strong consistently high points balls and wins match ups with pure power.

3. Michael Bennett, DT post-15487-0-95358600-1430272416_thumb.j

The panthers seem to love their Ohio State guys. Michael Bennett could be a great rotational defensive tackle. He is a little undersized and he mostly wins with his quickness and speed. Bennett played with an injury last year that hampered his play. I believe that this could possibly drop him to the third round.

4. Tyler Lockett, WR post-15487-0-07442700-1430272399_thumb.j

Big play ability and special teams dominance is what you get with Lockett. He won’t be the best receiver coming out, but he is very capable of learning. Lockett is fast and shifty, his play makes you say wow. He does make some puzzling mistakes though.

5. Javorius Allen, RB post-15487-0-96206500-1430272402_thumb.j

Buck Allen has the tools to be a feature back in the NFL. He is a good pass catching back and a downhill runner. His downside is that he isn’t elusive in the least.

5.2 Martin Ifedi, DE post-15487-0-36124600-1430272406_thumb.j

Ifedi is the big defensive end that Dave Gettleman likes. He is in the mold of our own Charles Johnson, he just needs time to refine his skills.

5.3. Tye Smith, CB post-15487-0-58874600-1430272431_thumb.j

Tye Smith has great ball skills and is very talented. He is athletic and tall. Smith’s biggest downfall is lack of technique and will need to be coached up to be a great NFL Corner.

6. Shaq Mason, C/ G post-15487-0-47622200-1430272395_thumb.j

Scheme held back Mason from shaowing a lot of his skills on tape. However, what he showed was fantastic athleticism. Mason needs to be in an nfl weight program to develop more muscle and needs to be with a good coach to help him with technique and scheme. Mason is coachable. He can be expected as a good back up that can rotate between guard and center.

7. Kyshoen Jarrett, S post-15487-0-58536900-1430272386_thumb.j

Has good explosiveness and physicality, but lacks size. Needs some help with technical skills.

I'd be surprised to see us go back to back years without drafting an OT with such an obvious need for young talent to develop at the position (and nine picks in the draft). It might not be early but I've got to think we will draft a tackle at some point.

That being said, no issues with the picks you put out there. I too am not a huge fans of Collins so I'm hoping he goes before our pick. But I'd understand if we do draft him.

I understand this, but I feel like every tackle worth taking will be picked by 25, besides Jake Fisher, but I don't think we take him. He will be gone by our second pick.

i could see all of the starting caliber LTs being gone by 25. But there are some intriguing RTs that could be of interest in the middle rounds - Daryl Williams, Havenstein, Gibson. He's not going to reach but I just think it's more likely than not that at some point an OT is BPA with nine picks. Even if it's just a backup to Remmers (don't make me watch Chandler "block" again).

well done sir. I hath pied thee.

I do have a question though... do you think we would have to trade up to take Strong the second?

It's a possibility, but I could see him falling as well. You have to think that Smith, Dorsett, and Agholor go before him now.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
