KB not a true #1 WR

No one is rolling coverage off Calvin Johnson because of Golden Tate. They are making Tate beat them which is what he did. One of the most common strategies for coverage in general is to single cover the WR2 with your best CB then double the WR1 with your CB2 and S.

Now if you have two WR1's that will change things but an above average to good WR2 ain't changing anything.

I respectfully disagree. Calvin Johnson is the reason that Tate had a his career year last season. Teams refused to change their coverage on megatron and Tate made them pay with 1300 yds on 99 receptions.

I've seen several Huddle posters make this statement. I can't begin to fathom the rationale for those who hold this view? What more could people expect from a WRs first season? His 1st year stats were amazing considering that he didnt have the luxury of a competent #2 to take away the tight coverage schemes he faced. He just needs to clean up the drops.

He had over 1000 YARDS in his first season let me repeat IN HIS FIRST SEASON. Kelvin Benjamin was the pick I thought they should of made last year in the draft and when they made that pick I knew we had a number one receiver for years to come barring injury of course.

Considering how raw KB is and couple that with the fact that he stated he hit the rookie wall and was worn out, with a full offseason to get in the shape he now understands he needs to be in, he could take a big step...of course, there is that thing called the sophomore slump he has to overcome.

I don't view KB as a #1. Not that it matters, it's a silly debate who is 1 and who is 2. But KB needs another starting WR that offers something different. Speed or sharp routes. Every contender needs talent and diversity in their receiving corp.

I agree with the need for diversity but out of curiosity,

Why don't you view KB as a #1 WR?

I'd be fine with three #2's as opposed to a #1, #2, and #3....

The old "Braves starting pitching rotation" strategy.

After the 3 hall of famers left of course. After that they always had a bunch of #2 rotation guys but never an ace.

But their 2s were better than the other teams 3s and 4s so they won a bunch of games in regular season only to exit in the postseason.

What are we talking about again?

It was a joke.
