NFL Gives Up Tax Exempt Status

It's entirely irrelevant that the NFL was tax-exempt because the league itself is not a profitable entity, since they pay out all their revenues to the 32 teams who then pay their respective taxes. All this move does is allow them to run a chronic deficit to cover their tax obligations and hide their executive pay. The NFL would never make the movie if it cost them anything significant, they just got tired of the bad PR from the media taking advantage of stupid people who know squat regarding taxes.

$44M for heading a $10B/year company isn't as out of whack as it sounds as far as CEO salaries go.

It is astronomical for a private company and 3 times the average of the top 200 public CEO's of companies with at least $1 billion in revenue  ( http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/30/business/an-unstoppable-climb-in-ceo-pay.html?_r=1 )

But Goodell isn't even what I consider a CEO.  He is a spokesperson for 32 billionaires.  Great gig if you can get it.
