Dan Quinn: Shane Ray 'absolutely' still on Falcons' draft board

...

New head coachDan Quinn hopped on SiriusXM Tuesday and confirmed that the franchise still has Ray on their draft board.

"Absolutely," Quinn said when asked if Ray is still on his team's board. "When we're going through the process, we felt good about him. He had a set-back and it was hard, but hopefully it's something he learns from and can move on from."

Hey, why stop at pot or alcohol? If you see the harmful effects there which is arguable---specifically when used in mideration---why neglect arguably the most harmful drugs today (which speaks to nutrition, like in the other thread)? Processed sugar, high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, and all manner of manmade foodstuffs have mind altering effects also. You have scientists who get paid just to keep you addicted to some of these things, but people want to cast negativity on weed.

Weed needs to be legalized so we can regulate it, and stop using endless amounts of resources criminalizing people who use it.

I don't disagree. in fact, I try to stay away from the very things you mentioned. that said, I often can't avoid them. and I drink socially. so according to my own definitions, I self medicate.

I'm not one of the crazy people who think Mary Jane is as bad as heroin or crack. it should be a felony to sell hard drugs, but it ought to be a misdemeanor to possess them. God knows a heroin addict has enough issues without being thrown in jail for something they can't physically help. marijuana is different. it should be treated like alcohol. legal to make, sell, and possess so long as taxes are paid and regulations are followed. however, there ought to be steep penalties for marijuana DUI, just like alcohol DUI, especially if an innocent life is harmed in an accident.

I don't smoke. I never have. the closest I've ever been to being high is inhaling second hand marijuana smoke. just like tobacco use, it will absolutely be detrimental to my health eventually. so I don't do it. I've cut way back on alcohol, caffeine, and processed foods for the same reason. I don't look down on anyone for drug use. but no one should look down on me for believing that drug use is harmful.

If uses you're right in a way. Sure, we can assume because the NFL makes billions of dollars where a lot of its players smoke weed so they don't "care" until it affects their business. So, there's a pretty simple unspoken agreement here that some bonehead players can't seem to understand: "we know you're going to smoke, fine. Don't get caught. Don't get caught by the police, don't get caught by us because we have to test."

As a billion dollar business its expected by the majority (the ones who buy the ticket, merch, etc) that NFL employees (players) are drug-free.

Smoking weed and getting caught is on the player. NOT ANYONE ELSE. Stop trying to blame the system, the league or someone else. It's a choice, and if it's not a choice, then it's an addiction.

I'm not blaming the system for the guy getting caught, I'm just saying it's a stupid system to begin with.

And those same people could drink a beer or take a pain pill and get the exact same "help."

It doesn't do anything but get you high, of course that makes you feel good.

False. There are strains of medical marijuana that have extremely low % of thc or none and high % cannabidiol. There have been numerous stories of children that suffer from 20+ epileptic seizures a day but once perscribed this no thc medication experience only 2 seizures a day. Tons of info on it, in short, you're wrong, it has vast medical potential.

Agreed, but if you want this job you have to play by the rules.  Whether you believe the system is fair or not the system pays you millions of dollars and the system says you can't smoke weed. If smoking marijuana or being allowed to smoke marijuana is more important to you than your job then maybe you should give up the dream of playing football and work a job that allows you to smoke.

Life is about choices and it sure as hell isn't fair - but most of us know this. Seems to be tougher to realize from some of these athlete's position.
