Avengers: Age of Ultron Review

Just saw it. Loved it. Great action, good pacing, great humor, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

The Infinity Wars and Civil War are the big Marvel arcs. This movie just pushes it more towards that and sets the stage a bit. It's a great movie, IMO.

Sure, "character development" can be griped about, but I'm not sure how much. The main Avengers group has been established. All other characters are secondary and just not that important to get origin stories. They're there to add more good guys and up the scale of the action, as well as contributing a bit to the dynamic of the whole group in dialogue and whatnot. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were developed enough. You got the abbreviated origin story and you saw their motives pretty clearly. You're not as attached to them as the others, sure, but with this being a "group" movie, the attachment to "The Avengers" is what is important, not the individual characters necessarily.

I've heard people gripe about The Vision, but I really don't see why outside of them not understanding the point of his character even existing. His purpose to this movie directly is to add another level for Infinity Wars and to provide the "glue" that kept the group together as it started splitting at the seams, as well as providing another hero. Interesting dynamic once he introduced himself to the team. The Avengers sort of took the place of the people of Earth, and the Vision became the Avengers. Cap asking "are you with us?" made that point clear.

Solid movie all around. Winter Soldier set a high bar, and to me, it wasn't as good a movie, but it was equally enjoyable.

I saw it yesterday. Good stuff. They introduce a bunch of new characters, and I get what Zod is saying. But if rumors are true the direction they are going for phase 3 it makes sense. And if the rumors are true it will be pretty epic, and this movie will be viewed more of a stepping stone to phase 3 and will make more sense why they introduced so many new heroes

If you are interested in rumor here is broad strokes of it

Tony Stark discovers Bucky was responsible for Howard Stark's death in 1st Capain America movie (their pilot's name was Stark). That and differing political views that were seeded with argument over Vision in Age of Ultron leads to falling out between the two. This leads to Civil War and eventually Steve Roger's death at end of Cap America 3. Tony dissappears for some reason (maybe guilt, who knows). At end of next Thor movie Thor ends up imprisoned. Hulk is in space or in hiding. Hawkeye is home retired with wife. Don't know where Black Widow is, but essentially the original Avengers are gone or dead.

That leads to Avengers Infinity War Pt1. That movie will feature Scarlett Witch, Black Panther, Vision, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, War Machine, Wasp, Luke Cage, Daredevil, among others. To bolster that movie's box office these Avengers will include Spiderman.

Which leads to Avengers: Infinity Wars PT. 2 that has the return of all the original Avengers to help save the day.

The end of Age of Ultron they were at the "New Avengers base". I think that is a play on words and not a new base (although it may be), but introduction to the New Avengers

I'm pretty sure Cap will at least be in Infinity Wars part 2, so I don't know if I agree he will die at the end of Civil War

However, I do see Bucky being the next Captain America after Infinity Wars Part 2

It makes some sense because Chris Evans is only under contract for one more movie after Cap America: Civil War. I think he dies, or is presumed dead until Avengers: Infinity War Pt.2. Agent Coulsen was brought back to life, so maybe they find a way to resurrect him, or maybe he fakes his death. Either way, if rumors are true he will not be around for Infinity Wars Pt.1 but will be back in Infinity Wars PT 2

Shame they aren't doing a Planet Hulk movie which would be why Hulk goes missing.

They kind of tease it at the end of Age of Ultron by having him in space at the end. Difference is he did it to himself instead of being tricked by Stark and Illuminati.

Personally I would rather see Planet Hulk than a Dr Strange movie, but they probably want to keep Hulk as he is until after Infinity War. If they go into a phase 4 I could see them possibly trying to do Planet Hulk and MAYBE Wold War Hulk. That would be awesome IMO

Just got back. I liked it a lot. So much crammed into one movie. It also sets up phase three nicely with the new avengers.

Best part to me

when Vision picked up Thor's hammer for the first time. Holy crap that was awesome. There were gasps in the audience.

Movies are mapped out to 2022. Keep your pants on
