Some of you guys saying you only like Devin Smith in the second round need to understand no quality receiver will be available at our pick in the second round.  Devin Smith will like go early in the second, so he's not a reach giving the talent that was available for us in this mock.

 

That is pretty much exactly how reaching for need works. All the 1st round receivers are gone so you take a 2nd round receiver because he and other good receivers will be gone by the time you pick later.

In the "guess what's gonna happen" thread, for lack of a better term, I have us picking Shane Ray. Gman is not passing up on a potentially great pass rusher with a high motor, provided his toe prognosis is good.

One thing I like about this is that the writers that cover these teams make the choice.  While some of them may be lousy and not have a clue about their respective team.   I think most do.

 

I haven't be sold on Devon Smith but I will be ok with it.

I'm not really happy with a smith pick because I don't like to get a guy in the first round who I think is mostly a gimmick speedster and special teams guy. Shane Ray or one of the available OT's woulda been preferred.

I pretty much thought all the talent available to us was pretty much 2nd round talent excluding Goldman (which we really don't need a DT) and Green-Beckham (who has character issues).  Of course I would have taken Dorsett, who is right on the fringe of first round talent.

isn't Shane Ray also considered an elite talent, supposed to go top 15?

No way Gettleman passes on Shane Ray at 25. He's a blue goose pass rusher, and we all know how Gettleman feels about pass rushers.

what this shows is that we will have some great options from which to choose at our pick, and there won't be 100 players taken in the first 23 picks like so many on here tend to think there will be.
