I'm not sure it was kind of hard to understand.  I wasn't sure if he was talking about the Panthers or another team he was with, or if he was just speaking metaphorically.

I don't think he cared, I just think he liked rubbing it in their faces.  They rated his draft as a C- when their analysis of his draft was an F.

That's a solid guess, but he wasn't drafted by the Giants.  He was an undrafted FA.  Maybe Gettleman was speaking metaphorically.  

 

Just re-watched. He said they DID draft the guy, and that he tore his ACL in the December before the draft. Should narrow it down quite a bit.

I recall a large number of rookies and second year players carrying this team from 3-8-1 to 7-8-1 and a playoff win. 

 

Your criticism of Gettlemen shows a complete lack of understanding of the cap and what shape Hurney left this team in.  We should have hit rock bottom in the 2 years following Hurney's idiocy; instead, we rock 2 NFC South Banners and won 20 games during that time.

10 regular players-eight starters-brought in as rookies during the 2 years Gettlemen has been here  have contributed significantly to 20 wins.  That is OVER 36% of the starters on this team who were first or second year players.   In fact,  6 starters or 27% were ROOKIES.  Hell, he didn't have but 11 total draft picks during that time. 

 

Would you like a list of the free agents he brought in while over the cap $13m?

Hurney signed some good players to some big contracts. Some of those contracts were severely backloaded. In effect he mortgaged future cap space and flexibility to win now. Unfortunately it didn't work.

Gettleman has came in and cleaned up the cap somewhat, won two division titles ( granted one with a losing record), and seems to have found a decent number of young cheap players. All of this is a good sign. The next few years will tell us more. We don't really know how well he will spend money. Most of his decisions so far have been of the cost cutting variety. How he handles Cam's and Luke's contracts will be interesting.
