The Eagles fans are coming to town

No offense Philly, but we had 3 guys from Philly on my college team, and all three were the most obnoxious players on the team.  We taped them to the goal posts, put Atomic balm in their jocks before practice, and dumped the cooler on them in November ( 30 degrees) at practice when they were laughing at us for saying it was cold.

I have found that they were creatures of their environment, that everyone I ever met from Philly was equally obnoxious. This made me feel bad for laughing when they were being bullied, because they really couldn't help it.  They were environmental dicks, not dicks by choice.

Welcome to the reality Panther fans living outside the Carolinas face all 365 days of the year. It's such a thrill being so outnumbered and having to listen to Jag, Buc, Dolphin, Patriot, Eagle, Cowboy, and Steeler fans in Central Florida all year round. Hope you survive those 2 days of hell, you lightweights.

You know a losing culture is being proud of back to back titles when in reality you still had a losing season and have yet to win a playoff game worth a poo since 2005, not including a close one vs. a third string QB, and claiming something was accomplished.

Sorry but we've got ways to go and will have to deal with this shitfest at least for another two years.

Cam's rookie season?

"What happens when you take a lion out of the safari and put him in your place of residency and try to make him a house pet? It ain't gonna happen. And I'm that lion. This house I'm in is sort of tarnished, so to speak, where losing is accepted. But I'm gonna change that, whether I gotta turn this house into a safari or just get out (of this house). Now, hear me out, because I'm not saying I'm trying to leave. I'm just trying to get everyone on my level.

It's like when we have a game where I do everything possible to win but we still lose, and it effects me this much. Then I look over at someone else on the bench or in the locker room and they're just shrugging their shoulders like whatever man we'll get it next time. What, bruh? Come on. There ain't no next time."

He got so much crap over those comments during his rookie season. At the time even I thought it was strange and didn't really understand what he was saying. It came off as him being arrogant and saying look at me I'm great and my team sucks.

In reality, he was just using a metaphor to talk about the culture of his new team and how he would not allow that to continue. He straight up called out his team for what it was. Carolina was a place where losing was the norm and accepted. That was the culture here. You play well individually and you'll get a fat check. Yeah, we wanna win, but if not then oh well.

Not anymore. Cam came in guns blazing and said fug that and fug you if you accept defeat. You aren't welcome here anymore, GTFO.

Now look at the franchise as he's entering his 5th season. Back to back division titles and back to back division round playoff games and a home playoff win.

Half the roster doesn't even know 2-14, missing the playoffs year after year, seeing guys get paid huge contracts, etc. They know Cam Newton & Luke Kuechly, 12-4, back to back division titles, winning a playoff game, and #89 getting axed.

It's a new culture.

Charles Johnson is a great example of Cam's impact if you've paid attention.

Charles was here for a lot of losing early in his career. And he still got paid a lot of money. That was the culture. That was the status quo. So back even during Cam's first 2 years when the team was still losing he was still that status quo player. Pretty much everything he posted on social media was related to money or his family. Great player? Yes, absolutely. But it was just business as usual and the status quo. He was a quiet player. Carolina's getting blown out and he's sitting on the bench cutting up with guys. Carolina loses the game and he's on the field laughing with opposing players.

Now look at him.

He's standing on tables before a playoff game yelling at his teammates that he's sick and tired of losing. He's standing in the middle of pregame huddles yelling at his teammates that nobody comes into his house and wins. He's posting photos on social media saying BOA is his house and he's sick of teams disrespecting his team and he's gonna make them respect us. When Carolina gets scored on he comes off the field and throws his helmet. After a loss he looks ready to rip off somebody's head.

It's that culture and mindset that Cam was talking about. Losing is not okay. We do not want to win, we expect to win.

I'm sure some of it is simply CJ getting older and also tasting success. But a lot of it is that culture and expectation that his QB has demanded of him and everyone else rubbing off on him.

He obviously got that from me. I've been saying it since we started the Riot in 2008.

Large numbers of opposing fans invading the stadium doesn't bother me. It happens literally everywhere in the NFL. The NFL is unique in that regard. Even the Cowboys who are "America's Team" and play secluded from everyone else way down in Texas are invaded. Look up YT videos of Redskin vs Cowboy games, the stadium looks red.

The problem I have is the team getting bitch slapped on their home field & giving those fans something to cheer and gloat about.

Steelers game was a prime example. Yeah, there were probably 30,000 of them in our stadium. And the Steelers beat the fug out of us causing them to go crazy and pretty much take over our stadium.

If the score would've been reversed it wouldn't have mattered how many of those God awful yellow rags were there. They would've either been heading to the exits or slumped over in their seats by halftime.

But it's slowly changing. They are working hard to change the culture. And it started when they drafted Cam. He brought that attitude to this team. From day 1 he talked about it, changing the culture and having a dominant home field advantage. Locker room culture, guys either expecting to win or being gone. He doesn't accept losing and he openly blasted the team for it when he was here as a rookie. He took heat from the media, but he was right. He let everybody know he plays to win, this is his team, and that poo isn't gonna fly around here anymore.

Now look at how other guys talk following Cam's, especially Charles Johnson and Thomas Davis. They constantly harp on never losing at home. Protecting their house. CJ was ranting about it on IG 2 days ago. It's a culture and attitude thing. And it's changing here because of Cam.

What happened 10 years ago doesn't matter. Hell, what happened 3 years ago doesn't matter. When Cam got here this team was losers. It was accepted. It was the norm. That was the culture. We want to win, but we don't really expect to. We're used to losing. It's whatever. They didn't know any better.

Not anymore. Cam came in and said fug that. For all his faults and growing pains, that has always been one of Cam's biggest qualities. He's a leader and winner. He does not accept defeat. He does not want to win or be great. He demands it and expects it, out of himself and everyone on his team. Nobody really talks about it, but he is slowly changing the culture.

17 players are 1-2 year players, another 15 are 3 year guys. All these guys know as Panthers is winning. Every year, they go to the playoffs. It isn't what they want to do, it's what they expect to do. They don't have the mindset that most the team had in 2011 where every year is missing the playoffs. They don't know that defeat. They only know Cam Newton and winning the division.

It's all about the culture.

And once we consistently win at home, like in 2013, these fan invasions will become irrelevant. They will still keep coming, but the party ends on Saturday night at the Shítty epicenter. Because on Sunday they watch their team get bitch slapped and get heckled by Panther fans.

Fantastic post, great start to draft week.
