^ you honestly would rather have that old, mole faced, cap hogging troll with a dead arm than a 25 year old with the greatest first four years in league history with an upside higher than anyone ever?

Nope. Right now Drew is a better qb though.

"Know your enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril."  --- Sun Tzu

What the Taints lost in passing attack, they gained in the running game with Max Unger and CJ Spiller. We won't have the experience of facing the same offense they've run the past few years. On defense, several players that were key to their excellent defense in 2013 went on IR last year. They'll be back healthy this year.

Do not be ignorant of the enemy. Less hubris, more respect, but no fear. We are still more than capable of beating them twice.

We've killed plenty of Taliban without knowing who they are. That's still no excuse for giving a saints forum clicks

What's more of a gem?

One fan of a 7-9 team on a website thinking about writing off the Panthers and met with a bunch of realists.

Or...

Pretty much the entire website of a 7-8-1 team writing off the Saints because of a half game win of the division?

The Saints have no reason to be writing off anyone. Neither do the Panthers.

Considering we were the only team in the division that didn't appear to completely implode in the offseason...

And this season was supposed to be the lean year while we continued cutting veterans and tried simply to give lots of young players opportunities...

Why WOULDN'T we feel confident about our chances?

Imploding is a strong sentiment. I would say retooling. 2 things that killed the Saints last year? Offensive line and defense. Two things they're looking to improve this offseason? Offensive line and defense.

Last season was the lean year. You were 7-8-1. "Lololololol everyone said we're gonna take a step back." *5 less wins a year later* "Lololololol they were wrong."

Nothing wrong with feeling confident. The biggest flaw I see in the reasoning here is "We had 7 rookies start last year. They're only going to get better." Which isn't true at all. They may, but they may also take a step back. This isn't Madden. Young players don't always progress.

Again, nothing wrong with confidence, but laughing at someone for writing you off is no more laughable than everyone here writing everyone in the division off.

No one is writing off the Saints. Unless Brees has some sort of injury the gambling community needs to know about? Our only jokes about Brees is the mole, short, and old. He makes his receivers better and it's going to be a tough game.
