Jeff: "I don't think we are in any position to be writing off anyone."

That is the voice of realism if I have ever heard it--it applies to us as well.

That thread, to me, shows me just how good Gettlemen is.  He made this team better at S, OT, and possibly WR, RB (addition by subtraction, for the most part, but I like Todman), and MOST IMPORTANTLY, Special teams.  He extended Olsen and a few key players.

Nobody noticed.

They think if this as a 7-8-1 team that didn't get better.  They forget we had 7 rookies starting at one point.  They will only get better (the biggest improvement is usually between rookie and second years).  They forget that Cam played half the season injured.  After another good draft, I assure you, people will notice.

I don't only think this team, if healthy, can win the south, I wonder who can beat the Panthers?  That Seattle game-in Seattle--was one bad pass away from being a nail biter.  We are already better than that team.  Yes, the Saints look to beef up the run game.  I get it.  Can they do better than  Lynch?  He didn't look like the best back in the NFL vs. the Panthers.  We will be better vs the run if we can get Benwikere in the nickel and get more production out of our RDE.  Ealy has been working this offseason, so how are the Saints going to beat us again?

We will get middle pressure from Star, KK, and Dwan--Brees hates it.  Move him, he struggles.  He was at his best with 2 stud, All - pro Guards keeping his vision clear.

New Orleans?  Please.  I am more worried about Tampa.

I listened to a Brees interview on Dan Patrick last Friday and I didn't even recognize his voice. He sounded so completely disengaged and distant and more like a guy who was contemplating his retirement rather than looking forward to another season.

All I could think of when the interview was over was, "Is this the beginning of the end for him?"

Well put. All good points, especially about Cam playing hurt for a good part of the season. Tampa is definantly needs to be a concern, they could be a little scary if everything comes together for them.

Most of them realize........... Panthers >>>>>>> Saints.

I always see one or two posters,  across the net,  that act as if we won the division last year by default.

We gave the Saints their worst home loss of the Sean Payton era.   Then walked into the Georgia Dome and gave them one of their worst home losses of the last decade.   There was nothing default about how we won the division.

Considering the rather sober weather in the Carolinas, I can completely see their points =)

Many of them are right in that it's WAY too early to tell what's going on in the NFCS.  History has shown we're a very tough match up against them.  Personally, I wonder how much longer they are going to use the injury and timing excuses to hide what is effectively failing leadership.

If the team leader is already mentally packing it in, what does that say about the coaches and other players?  The Saints had a great story post-Katrina and really became a powerhouse for a while on their offense.  But it seems that those days have rapidly faded.

We're the champs back to back for the first time.  We play very good defense.  If our offense can make more strides, then we have a great shot at a third division championship.

You basically trade away a 1000 yard TE and a 1000 yard WR. You cut about a dozen players to get under the cap to sign two decent players and expect to be better? What? Lets not even begin discussion that Brees took a HUGE step back last year and will probably take an even bigger one this year.

"Cam is so far from elite that it is not funny."

"and I think he will implode by game 6."

I guess we'll have to get by with Anderson after the implosion.

Unless there's a raft of injuries, I don't see how we're not better this year. The Saints need a lot of improvement on D and they don't have much $ to throw at FA's. They better strike it rich in the draft.
