Do you tip furniture delivery people?

I worked at Aaron's for 5 years and i rarely was tipped...

I would get a tip every now and then (pure tips i could count on both hands though) if i was to get any extra money they wanted me to do something extra...

Aarons has a rule that if its not an arrons product we cant touch it so we dont do haul aways and we aren't supposed so move anything, its a liability thing...

But people would often want us to move their old fridge or washer & dryer so we could install ours (they had a delivery scheduled and were told we dont move things, but they still made no effort to have it removed) and then offer a  "tip"...

and the delivery fee, the delivery drivers dont get any of that(at least not when i was with aarons)...thats what got us, they wouldnt think of tipping because they already paid the delivery fee...

But we did deliveries, returns and moves, some people would move multiple times a month...carrying the products up and down flights of stairs (apartments are common with aarons customers)...a tip woulda been nice, esp when they tipped the pizza boy

That. Your "delivery fee" does not go into the guys' pockets as extra pay. They get their standard paycheck. Your delivery fee goes into the store's pocket.

I guess it all depends on what's being delivered, how far they have to haul it from when it comes off the truck, and if they set it up. When I moved here I had my entire place shipped from IKEA. So I gave each guy (4) $20. Luckily for them I have an elevator (live on the 14th). I'd hate to have to deliver to a brownstone. That would suck hard.

If they hustle, are careful, willing, in a good mood, and

move poo where you want, fug yea you tip.

I'm a strong believer in work ethic and tips. Whether it be a bar tender, server, moving, delivery. You have to take into account things that are in their control (low tips for late food screw the server for example when it's probably the cook/kitchens fault).

When you give me good service you get a nice tip, 25%. Give me great service that makes me want to come back I give 50%. poo on me and I'll fuging insult you with change and make sure you know it.

The tip, really depends on the worker as it should. No one automatically deserves anything.

Um, Aaron's is for broke ass stupid people. Of course they didn't tip.

You clearly don't know...yeah they get a lot of the "no credit" people, but we stayed in nice neighborhoods and country club districts...but yeah only broke ass stupid people go there  ...

we also commonly did fire damage tickets, where people who had their house burned down, come and cash in a ticket and get a new living room, bedroom and kitchen set up in a temporary house until their old house is fixed and then move it to the old house...

I tipped when they delivered my new furniture set..... Only to realize after they left the frame of my sofa was cracked and the loveseat had a hole in the back of it.

Needless to say the guys who deliver the replacements won't be getting one.

If they do a good job, why shouldn't they? Assuming they're different delivery guys, of course.

It will be the same guys, I've already spoken with the manager about the situation. He seemed genuinely upset that they would have delivered broken furniture, especially after in spent $1700 on the two pieces and my parents have been lifelong customers since they got married 30 years ago.

Do you tip UPS when they show up with a package?

I get your point but there is a difference between a UPS driver making $30-$35 an hour and a furniture delivery guy making $10.  I do most of my shopping online so UPS delivers stuff to my 2-3 times a week. I don't tip them every time I get a package delivered but I do tip them around the holidays along with the mail lady. When I had garbage collection at my old house I would tip them at year's end also.

Anybody I use regularly for service of some sort I try to tip at years end. Throwing them a few extra dollars ensures they will take care of me the following year.

I recently had a King size bedframe delivered through West Elm. The two guys spent about 30 minutes assembling the frame and made sure everything was satisfactory before they left. I gave them $20 each. They were appreciative and said it was their only tip of the day.

The next week I had a sectional delivered and tipped the dudes $20 total.

I think from now on if the delivery is done well and the guys are professional, I'm going to tip. Good karma.

Not always.  Lots of people rent furniture and things for homes they are selling.  It's called "staging" and when the home sells it's returned.  It helps the potential buyers visualize living there.  Some people argue that a clear floor is better though.  Also, lots of people stay in areas for months at a time but don't live there.  Professionals that travel see no need to buy furniture and all that outright especially if they could move across the country for their next project.
