Possible Trade Scenario

Recommended Posts

Didn't we do this a few days ago?

Moving from 25 down to 27 is pretty easy.  Neither Baltimore nor Dallas need an OT, but Baltimore might take a WR if the RB they wanted is gone.

SO, we don't move if the WR we want is there.  If only 1 of the top 2 RB's is there and the WR's we graded as 1st rounders have been picked, then we could slide just a bit and still pick up who knows what

Would love to trade back to around the 40th pick for an extra 3rd, then use that 3rd, our 3rd and maybe our 5th to get another pick in the 2nd, maybe around pick 50.

In this draft, I would much rather have three 2nds, than a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, even if it cost us our 5th.

maybe even get a David Putney out of the deal.

Gurley most certainly will not be there at 25. I don't like what I've heard about Gordon's ability to pick up a blitz, which makes him not a plug and play starter and not a first rounder IMO. So yes, trade if there are takers. I just don't see it.

You wouldn't a talented RB at 25 in a fairly weak 1st round Draft class because they can't pick up a blitz? HAHAHA

Three down RB's (the one's that CAN pick up a blitz) are the only running backs worth a #1.

#1 draft picks should start and contribute from day one, Gordon is not a slam dunk.  End of round 2?  meh.

Rookies can't blitz pickup, period. Gurley is mediocre at it, and that makes him better than the rest.

Ozzie traded up to draft Oher

Ahh, this is true. Think it only cost him a 5th to jump up 3 or 4 spots too. I still just don't see it happening this year, but this has been a crazy off-season in the NFL so who really knows.

Speaking of it only costing Ozzie a 5th to move up a few spots to the early 20's.. If Carolina see's a high value target fall to roughly the same area and we find a trade suitor, I wonder if we could reach a similar deal to move up in the 1st instead of back?

From what I can tell they moved from 26 to 23.

I'm afraid that 25 to 18-20 might cost closer to a third and that might be the range we need for a tackle that we want.

I've said it before but I think our ideal trading partner is Pittsburgh at 22. Could probably do it for a 4th or 5th and it gets us ahead of Detroit for an OL or Arizona for a RB. Pittsburgh needs a CB and neither of those two teams is likely to take one so they would most likely be willing to go back a few spots, get an extra pick and still get the guy they wanted at 22.
