The Top Tier WRs according to Cosell

top dawg

Recommended Posts

Only top tier WR in this draft is Amari Cooper. The rest are not worth the risk of a first round pick.

So then just pick the fifth best OL guy then?

It IS a 32 pick draft...we have a need at WR..

The Squirrel draft board must have 3 long snappers in the top 32..it is a very nice WR class IMO.

Can he be dominate? Sure, he absolutely has freakish size and speed, but he is not going to develop into a Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green type of guy.

I don't agree that "he is not going to develop into a Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson..." He has the tools to develop into that type of player, but he is very very far behind where they were at this point coming out of the draft. He has all the potential in the world, it's just a question of whether he'll realize it or not. It's definitely possible he does, though it'll take time and a lot of improvement. I don't think the chances of that are worthy of a 1st round pick. You need to take sure-things in the 1st. With DG if he thinks Perriman's worth a 1st I'm all for it, but I'd be much more comfortable with it in the 2nd.

So if Cooper is the only WR worth a first round pick who do you think is going to fill the other 31 draft picks?

I'm not sure if I can find 31 players with less risk than White.

KN himself said he wanted to be a Panther and

nowhere else. He visited us early and often and we made the pick with confidence when he fell in our lap...no surprises here.

Shaq looks to be that guy this season and if he can be anywhere bear what TD has turned out ro be...he's a Panther born, and will be a Pnther bread.

has Cosell only looked at 3 WRs this draft? I looked up what he said about Agholor, Dorsett, etc and couldn't find anything. In the OP's link he only talks about 3 WRs. In 2013, for ex, he talked about 12 WRs, and the way he talks about Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter is like how he talks about Perriman (Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter were the #3 and #4 WRs taken in the 2013 Draft, they went at #29 and #34]

Perriman

"At this point Perriman is not a refined route runner, as he has a tendency to round off his routes. But there’s a lot to work with. ... He has all the physical tools and traits NFL teams look for in a receiver."

Cordarrelle Patteson

"Running routes he’s not that dynamic because he doesn’t know how to do it yet. He’ll get drafted high because of the potential."

Justin Hunter

"There’s one guy who fascinates me, and he fascinates me because his ceiling is really high .... that’s Justin Hunter from Tennessee. ... I think he’s got a very similar body type and a similar athletic skill set to A.J. Green. ... Hunter has major issues with his hands. ... He does not have natural hands. A.J. Green has great hands ... But Hunter’s size, his fluidity, that combination, his movement, there’s not a lot of guys like that. ... He will never reach any ceiling until he catches the ball better, and he may never catch the ball better, but that size and fluidity of movement is really impressive."

[note: Perriman has problems with his hands on top of not being a good route runner]

i looked up what Cosell says about Dorial Green Beckham and can't find anything. Earlier in the thread someone said Cosell compared him to Calvin Johnson, but that was Albert Breer not Cosell

Would be interesting to know what Cosell would think if he had to compare all the top WRs, not just 3 of them. As for Perriman having better movement skills and looking like a more fluid and "natural" WR than White, other people having being saying that as i posted in the Perriman thread here on the draft forum at the Huddle:

Give me Cedric Obiwan in the 1st round and Jaelen Strong in the 2nd, Gettleman could just go home the rest of the draft and I wouldn't even be mad.

Cedric with our 25th would be awful. No way is he worth that. Especially with even more health concerns coming out.... And I like Strong, but he doesn't fit what we need on our offense. We need someone with slightly more explosion and vertical threat. Yes, Strong ran a 4.44 but he, supposedly, didn't show it on tape to most scouts reporting.

If you hit the first link and go to the discussion about WRs and go to around the 30 minute mark, he will discuss Cooper, White, Parker and then DGB (I believe it's in that order).

Wow, I got to bite the bullet and move perriman up now.

I don't see d thomas tho, he's basically a RB in terms of breaking tackles. Just throw a smoke route to thomas then watch him go on a 80 yard TD, on paper its a pass, but he did all the work.

I know white, cooper, and parker will not be there @ 25. Its starting to look like neither will dorsett, agholor, and perriman....... last years draft changed the game, all teams took notice. Rookie WRs value has risen and many teams use 3 WRs each snap.

So I guess, I need to hope hill up as a legit #2 WR in my mind now....... I did state if hill entered this draft (without his nfl exp), he'd still be a 2nd rounder. Hills only 23 currently........ see I'm doing it now :/

I think kevin white is way to hyped up . The best is amari cooper by far but most likely he wont be the best rookie because he is more then likely to go to a team with a bad qb.

If I had to pick a wr id prefer guys like nelson agolor, devin Smith and phillph dorsett
