Thomas Davis Honors

Its The Milk

Recommended Posts

Was on the job and couldn't help but wonder.

With the recent awards/honors backing up what we all knew about TD and how he exemplifies Panthers football: Once he retires should his number be retired, added to the ring of honor, get a statue outside of BOA stadium, or all the above?

What say you?

I don't remember much of the Sam Mills era. I was a young army brat at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio back when we got our team. I caught Panthers games whenever I could, but they were few and far in between. While I respect the legend that he is no one in my mind represents what it means to be a Panther more than TD. From start to finish.

Thomas Davis is starting to get the recognition he deserves.  I would take a pic beside his statue, not Smitty's because I value character and the person behind the player--just me.

HOWEVER.....

While we are on the topic of awards, I think SCP's work station should be bronzed and on display outside Panther stadium, representing the combination of Panther knowledge from the fan perspective, the internet, and gastroenterology.  A statue to represent his work ethic and dedication.  A laptop on a TV tray in front of a toilet, with a half-eaten burrito, a roll of toilet paper, and an economy-sized bottle of hand lotion beside the computer.  You could even go into extreme detail and include an unflushed fudge badger at the bottom of the bowl.  As I write this, a little tear is forming in the corner of my eye.  Adieu.

I'd say it's too early to tell. Especially when someone is still playing. Does he look the part so far? Absolutely. Based off of what he does in the future could he be a slam dunk? Yes.

A rule added in the mid-2000s by the Panthers organization requires all potential inductees to be retired for at least five years before they are eligible for induction. So there will be plenty of time to step and look at the entirety of his career when it finally comes to an end.

Side question, should Kasay get in? Smitty? Anyone else? I know I'm hoping for Cam and Luke but we have to let their careers play out.
