Shaq Thompson profootballfocus #most overrated player.

Washington had four 1st or 2nd rounders in this draft on defense last year(Shelton, Thompson, Kikaha, Peters). 3 after Peters got kicked off the team in November. That's a lot of talent.

Three guys are a tiny fraction of a team. The Bucs are picking #1 overall and they had Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David and Alterraun Verner

compare the recruiting class rankings:

Alabama

#1 - 2011

#1 - 2012

#1 - 2013

#1 - 2014

Washington

#24 - 2011

#23 - 2012

#18 - 2013

#37 - 2014

Have to agree the guy has bad instincts and is a chase and run down from behind type LB. Then all this talk about safety...Just don't see it. He is a tweener who is a jack of all trades master of none type guy. Even his sparq rating was only average while so many hype up how athletic he is. This is not the way to go(in the first) DG. Sorry about the title..he was number 8 on a list of ten.

This shocks me and reminds me of how poorly I evaluate potential.  I have been stating the opposite.

I hate that he is already 25...He is the type of player that needs more time to develop, and he is already the same age as Cam Newton, and Newton has had years to develop in the league.... And we are still waiting for him to make that next step.

Shaq? He turned 21 three days ago. He won't be 25 until the end of his rookie contract.

If you really want to go the recruiting rankings argument then put up the recruiting rankings of the Pac 12 North vs the SEC West. Landon had more talent but played against far, far tougher competition by that metric.

Also, I'm really not sure why you are so insistent on comparing Shaq to Landon. Shaq is an OLB and will be an OLB in the NFL. He's already said the teams most interested in him want him to play OLB and that the Panthers have shown the most interest. Collins is a SS and will be a SS in the NFL. They play different positions.

The interesting thing with Shaq is that if we go for him and he is more of an OLB...or strictly an OLB (which he wants), then our base-looks could have very interesting blitz packages.  I didn't realize Adarius Glanton, who got most of the time we'd expect Shaq to move into by the end of 2014 is 6'1 230.

If people want an SS though, I think Tartt makes a lot of sense. The safeties are always tricky to figure out.  People thought Dion Bailey and Kenny Ladler were 1st/3rd rounders last year and both ended up undrafted.

All I know is I YouTube his highlights and the video I saw consisted of about 80-90% of him running the ball as a RB. As someone else mentioned here, Jack of all and a master of none. This would be a Hurney type pick through and through

Luckily our scouts watch more than just a few YouTube videos of him

dudes...Shaq flies to the ball and makes plays rather than just being a sit and wait type player. He does get swallowed up by OL, but we have some of the best DT's/Des in the league.

Shaq is a beast in coverage and always keeps the play in front of him, whether he makes the stop or not.

On any given play, Shaq can redirect the opposition into throwing to the third or fourth option and is always there with the ball in front of him.

Game afyer game, Ive watched him blanket the #1 options and force qbs into making a dink and dump pass, where he usually gets there when the ball reaches the intendsd receiver.

i have knly seen him geg burned once and it was on a goal line play where he got caught outside and swallowed up by a DE.

This is our guy...wether we move up in the second or just go ahead and take him at #25.
