Could Shaq Thompson be another Derrick Brooks?

We got Brooks (Luke ) and Sapp (Star ) already.

We need Lynch. Yes, Shaq could be Lynch.

Not really.

Sapp was an athletic under tackle. A better comparison would be KK Short, not Star who is a Nose tackle.

Brooks was a WLB that could roam in Dungys system. Probably the best ever.

As someone pointed out, it wasn't Brooks measurables that made him great. It was his instincts and football IQ.

The biggest difference--TB was running the Tampa 2 defense then, weren't they? one that required the LB to cover the seam route?  (I don't know this stuff like others, so corrections might be in order).

I want Shaq because I think he can be a SS (his weight has been around 218 at times) and his quickness and reaction time is off the charts.  I think he could play SS or we could move TD to Klein's spot, ultimately making TD a 2-down player (and prolonging his career).  However, I hesitate to tamper with the TD/LK combo, so I would have Shaq at SS for two years and look to convert him to OLB when Davis slows.

I realize that many of you think he is a second rounder, but in today's defenses, his versatility makes him more valuable than if you try to frame him as a LB or S.  He is both, and can be both.  As a player who can play both, he gives the DC options and the opposing QB a variety of looks.  He strengthens the pass protection and run stuffing.  I personally think he is the pick, but I also see Perriman or Peat.

Anthony McFarland would probably be a better comparison to Lotulelei.
