Shane Ray could drop out of the First Round, needs foot surgery

I don't know that he fits the measurables profile DG likes in a pass rusher. He's both short and light for a 4-3 DE at 6'3" 245 lbs. He'd be hard on pass on in the 2nd round even though he probably should just go ahead and get the surgery if he needs it since lingering toe injuries can drastically affect performance.

Doesn't need surgery apparently...

#Mizzou DE Shane Ray had an injury, like turf toe, discovered during a team visit. Thought surgery was his reality. Instead, simply rest.

All teams have known about Ray's issue. Some team medcial staffs do believe surgery may be necessary, as @LanceZierlein said. Others say no

Sounds like it depends on the team which makes sense. Many opinions differ this time of year. Saw another guy say one team he talked to said they would have him play through it then probably get surgery after his rookie year.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoportreported that Ray saw a foot specialistThursday, Dr. Aakash Shah in Kansas City, and that the doctor's recommendation was that surgery wasn't necessary.

I wonder if this Dr. is affiliated with a certain team?

Edit:  Apparently he's not associated with a particular team, but is a "consultant neutral physician for the NFL and NFLPA" and is involved in assisting care for professional football players. - http://kcsportsmedicine.com/about-dr-shah/about-dr-shah.cfm
