Week 5 Bye Week

Sarcasm?

Historically the schedule is a disaster for a Rivera led team.

Following a BYE week the Panthers are 0-4. In 4 games, they have scored 36 points and allowed 102 points.

Rivera has always started each season off with conservative coaching and vanilla game plans usually lasting about 6 to 8 games. Following the BYE game the Panthers record under Rivera is 7-23-1. The Panthers are 2-5 against division rivals in that stretch prior to the BYE loss.

Same pattern every season.

Wasn't the Cincinnati tie before our bye last year?

I like the bye a little early. It's not so much about getting healthy as it is breaking the mental grind. The season is 21 weeks long (w preseason) and with camp and the rookies in a daze since the end of their season last year, an early bye is good. Having a late bye threatens momentum going into the end of the season. Week 5 seems like the perfect time. And eventually we will win one after the bye, and beat Seattle so why not this year?

I was listening to Mike and Mike on the way to work this morning and they had Jeff Saturday on.  He said the first thing he would look for when the schedule came out was when the bye was.  He said seeing an early bye is a terrible feeling and you knew the rest of the season was going to be miserable.
