Red Beers

I'm a huge fan of red beers, but living in the Pacific Northwest, I get looked at funny when I ask for a red when I go into a bar. Some reds are finally making their way out here, and I was wondering if my fellow beer drinkers could recommend me some good red beers. I've only had Killians to chose from for a while, and I would rather spend my money on some good stuff than having to taste test a whole bunch of different brews.

You can always ask for a taste off a tap so you don't have to commit to a pint.

If someone came to me asking for a red, I would have so many more questions to narrow things down. The color of the beer does not dictate the taste. So maybe try asking for a malty Amber or hoppy Amber. Stylistically, there are just two beers that uses the word red in their name: Flander's Red (sour beer) and Irish Red Ale, which may be why you can only find killians. ( which is terrible example of the style)
