New or used? It depends because some of the 07-09 models had engine issues. My friend who's big into jeeps says I should get an 2013 model at the latest.(I've been looking at wranglers too)

Don't go the Jeep route.

The Wrangler is cool looking and excellent off road but that's it. If you're looking for a jarring ride quality while getting 15 mpg and replacing parts after 80-100k then it's a great car.

I like the Wrangler but it's crap.

This. Cherokees are OK but they'll destroy gas but have issues.

I've owned a Jeep for 16 years.

 

If you maintain the engines like a someone should you should be fine.

They are NOT::: family cars, everyday drivers, anything other than a weekend fun ride.

 

They ride like poo and drink fuel like a battleship

Playing in the woods

Playing on the beach

Weekend cruises

Wrangler is one of the worst vehicles on the planet for...

Daily driving

Fuel economy

Ride quality

Durability

My mom bought herself a Jeep for her beach dune-bugging needs.  So, you'll be rocking it with the retired 60+ year olds at least.
