What do you think NFL QBs prefer? Better weapons or better protection?

A good WR will definitely help your passing game. A good offensive lineman will help your passing game, your running game and the career length of your QB, RB and TE.

Good teams have good skill players. Great teams have good linemen and a few exemplary skill players.

Peyton has consistently had good lines in front of him.

Rodgers couldn't even make the playoffs with a oline that wasn't playing well a couple of years ago.

Peyton won MVP with and injury riddled line, he's just gets rid of the ball faster than any QB.

The question is obviously over-simplified, but if I had to give an answer it'd be O-line. Or rather, I think Cam would rather have a good LT than a WR of the same grade.

The reason to me is actually quite simple -- QB's don't wan to get hit. If his receivers don't get open he can at least throw the ball away.

Always O-Line. Strong OL opens up the run game which opens play action. Give an average QB a run game and a solid pocket and he will win 10-12 games for you. Give Cam a top 10 / top 15 OL and one more target alongside KB/Ginn/Olsen, and you have (barring injury) a first round bye.

peyton won his Superbowl (the goal in the NFL) behind an oline that came together and blocked it's ass off, allowing the offense to be balanced, and Peyton doing less.

FTW.

Peyton and Rodgers seem to do well with mediocre lines and good weapons.

If you have a bad LT it easier to cover up the flaw by siding protection, leaving a RB to block or helping them chip with a TE. When you have a bad WR theirs not much you can do, its up to the QB.

You are also talking about two of the greatest QB's to play the game.

That Colts 06 O-line was average at best, matter of fact Manning never had a great line in Indy. His whole game has revolved around pre snap reads, changing the plays at the line and getting rid of the ball before the defense is set. In 06 it had more to do with the colts D finally coming around cause Bob Sanders stayed healthy.
