Why we should draft Dorial Green-Beckham

Dave Gettleman values pass rushers over seemingly everything else in life and he just let a proven elite NFL pass rusher walk due to off field concerns. Y'all really thing he's going to spend a high draft pick on a WR who has significant off field concerns and is a pure potential pick? Yes, DGB is just potential, that's it. The guy has less than 1300 total receiving yards in college. That isn't proven production, that's potential. Next Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss? Please. Randy Moss had over 1800 receiving yards and 26 receiving TDs - yes, 26! - in his one season at Marshall. Calvin Johnson racked up just shy of 3000 receiving yards in 3 years at GT while playing a damn triple option offense.

That's one thing that gets me. To hear people talk you'd think he was the greatest receiver prospect of all time.

Calvin didn't play in the triple option at GT but his QB was Reggie Ball which might have been worse.

Were they not running the triple option yet? They were definitely run heavy as hell, that's for sure. Meanwhile, DGB was playing at pass happy Missouri. He never led the team in receiving yardage and accounted for a little over 20% of Missouri's receiving yardage in his two seasons there. Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss... puleeeeeze

Calvin was there under Chan Gailey. Paul Johnson came in a couple years later.

Randy Moss played at Marshall when they were in the 1-AA SoCon. The DBs he was beating on my team for those TDs were all like 5'9".

If we don't take him the Saints will take him.

Judging by the comments in this thread I'm positive half you didn't want to draft Cam.

I didn't want to draft Cam.

Not because of character concerns but because I thought he'd have serious difficulty making NFL caliber throws.

The improvement of his mechanics between the national championship and OTAs was astronomical though.  Whitfield and Weinke did wonderful work with him.

Thats what the draft is all about, landing prospects with the most NFL potential.

The Golden Calf of Bristol and Manziel are two of the most productive college players in history, but they aren't cut out for the NFL.

Mizzou pass happy, since when? DGB was just sophomore and had to play with two different QBs that seasons due to injuries. He was the number 1 rated WR after his sophomore year, so its not like he's some new commodity.

Moss was the one playing in a pass happy offense he also had an NFL QB throwing him the ball.

As far as the JRich thing goes...do you really think he would let go a player who in year-1 could possibly make us an offensive juggernaut and serious threat for a championship?

Somebody needs a slap up-side they head, that brings real tears, every once in a while.

I guess that you missed the story here where J-Rich went into the war room and took Randy Moss's card from the draft board and threw it on the ground...

So by this shitty logic all prospects are just potential. What a hot take

My thought exactly. A guy who's work his whole life to get here then refuses to meet with a potential team who wants to draft him. That's not the kind of attitude I would want in the locker room. He's got to be mentally insane to publicly say something like that.

What's wrong with that? Elway and Eli even refuse to play for a team!

Those kind of guys have leverage. They're top tier players. They both went on to win 2 superbowls each. DGB doesn't have any kind of leverage
