Quentin Rollins CB/S Miami (Ohio)

he's a guy we've met with and worked out

rated as high as 2nd R. Physical ball-hawk that can play CB (outside and slot) or FS and people aren't sure which one is best to take full advantage of his talents (Mayock has him as his #4 S, for ex)

Quinten Rollins strikes me as a typical Pete Carroll Cornerback.

Think that's a great fit for him.

-one year of college football experience

-MAC Defensive Player of the Year

-#3 in nation with 7 INTs (got another INT in the Senior Bowl game), behind only UNANIMOUS All-Americans Gerod Holliman and Senquez Golson

The New Orleans Advocate Nick Underhill @ nick_underhill

Quinten Rollins 905 snaps 436 yards allowed 2 TDs 8 Ints 8 PD

45.6 QB rating against

four-year starter at point guard for the Miami-Ohio hardcourt team where his 214 steals are second best in school history and eighth all-time in MAC basketball history per Sports Illustrated (#12 per his school bio page)... only player in Miami history to twice record seven steals in a game … owns four of the top six single-game steal marks at MU. ... led the MAC in steals as senior... ranked fourth at Miami school history in career assists (391)

At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Rollins told the media, “I just have a knack for the ball — a natural knack for the ball,” he said. “I’ve always had that since I was a kid. I love getting steals (in basketball), love getting interceptions."

There goes Quinten Rollins . Nice INT there. He showed excellent

ball skills this week, esp vs Devin Smith on go routes.

Former Miami-Ohio basketball player turned cornerback Quinten Rollins impressing scouts:

"Sleeper of the Week- Quinten Rollins/CB/Miami (Oh): Entering the season no scout listed Rollins as a next level prospect which its understandable considering he never played football in college rather served as the starting guard for the Miami basketball team. Rollins’ move to football was seamless and he’s developed into one of the most intriguing cornerback prospects in the nation. Eleven games into his first season on the football field he’s picked off 5 passes, broke up an additional 9 and also averaged 6 tackles per game. A terrific athlete with a smooth, natural style, Rollins is flying up draft boards and is headed to the Senior Bowl this January. The middle rounds are now a real possibility which is rather incredible considering eight months ago no one thought Rollins had any future in the NFL."

Something to consider regarding good FS prospects (Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins etc), is that Tre Boston was a good pick because he is a versatile two-way safety that can play FS or SS (he played SS for 3 years at UNC for ex). If there is a FS we really like in this draft, we could move Boston to SS. Keep in mind that in the modern NFL (a passing league), FS is a priority position. Look at the starting FS of the last six Super Bowl teams:

Saints - Darren Sharper - 6x All-Pro/5x Pro Bowl

Packers - Nick Collins - 3x All-Pro/3x Pro Bowl

Giants - Antrel Rolle - 2x All-Pro/3x Pro Bowl

Ravens - Ed Reed - 8x All-Pro/9x Pro Bowl

Seahawks - Earl Thomas - 4x All-Pro/4x Pro Bowl

Patriots - Devin McCourty - 3x All-Pro/1x Pro Bowl
