I went by there. I didn't have time to do the tour but they were so friendly. They went and grabbed me samples of each, told me to keep the glasses, and i bought a couple of bottles

Yeah I only had time to do the standard tour. If I had more time would have loved to do the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. I've done the tour of Jack Daniels in TN so it was interesting to see the similarities and differences in each of the distillery's processes.

I have a bottle of Macallan 18 at my house. Haven't even opened it yet. I have Macallan 12 in my decanter.

But my buddy just got married a couple weeks ago so I bought a bottle of Balvenie 14 aged in Caribbean Rum Casks for us groomsmen to drink in the hotel while we got ready. It was outstanding.

The 18 year Macallan is some seriously good stuff. Made my mouth wAter just remembering that. Had it at a Valentine Day dinner chilled by pouring it through an ice funnel. Worth every damn penny.

I actually like the Dalmore 12 over the Macallan 12, I don't know how common of an opinion that is though.

By the way, you keep scotch in a decanter? Not for long, right?

It doesn't usually last in there very long, I have poker nights and other gatherings that tend to make quick work of it.

It's airtight though and I've been told the difference in a lead-free crystal decanter and original bottle is negligible so long as the decanter is airtight.

I also was told YEARS ago by my grandfather that putting scotch in a decanter helped people appreciate its flavor better without any preconceived notions, good or bad, from the label.

Of course he was never a wealthy man so that could all be bullshit but it always made sense to me.

I've become more into liquor because beer fills me up after 4 or 5 but I can drink liquor all day and night.

Fall and winter I drink whiskey, if I splurge its on a bottle of Middleton's, but Tullamore Dew is my go-to along with Green Spot.

Summer time is always something different, last year I'd buy a sack of limes and make fresh margaritas, year before that I was on a Gin binge, Hendricks especially. Not sure what this summer will be yet.
