So I have put together the top 53 players currently under contract (this is very debatable, I know).  If we were to keep all 9 of our draft picks, and arguably add UDFAs to the PS.  We would be looking at replacing 9 people from this depth chart.  Who do you cut?  

 

Already cut: (Stephen Hill, Brenton Bersin, Edmund Kugbila, Fernando Velasco, David Foucault, Brandon Williams, Darrin Reaves, Kyle Love, etc.)

 

Choose 9 players who get replaced by our incoming rookies.

Gotta stop here, cant see more than 5 rookies taking jobs.  Our roster is pretty good.  

 

Before you ask, no this does not mean i think we take these positions, just the players that look to be expendable right now.  Any position could force these guys out.  Lets call them "first 5 out".

Nate Chandler, Amini Silatolu, Jerricho Cotchery, Ed Dickson, Roman Harper, Kevin Reddick, Frank Alexander, Melvin White, Colin Cole/Darrin Reaves (Probably leaning towards Reaves as we could use another guy that can play FB and RB in case something happens to Tolbert).

Possible Cuts 

 

Joe Webb

Either Philly or Cotchery

Fozzy or Todman (I'm hoping Fozzy is the one that stays)

Frank Alexander or Wes Horton

Any of the safety's could be gone besides Boston

Ben Jacobs and or Kevin Reddick

Nate Chandler or Johnathan Martin

 

There will certainly be good camp competition this year

Your 53 looks about right for how things stand right now.with one exception Brandon Williams will make. We carry 3 TE's. Add him and drop a LB.

 

Dropped B-Will to add Richie Brockel who plays utility man TE/RB/ST.  Could have listed Brockel at the TE position if that would make you happy.  But you are right, 7LBs is superfluous.

Can't pick without knowing what positions we draft and how players perform during preseason. I thought Underwood, King, or McNutt would make the team last year and all were cut.

 

Yes you can.  basically, you are deciding which positions we are likely to draft people at and picking the individuals you think are at the bottom of their perspective totem pole.

Lies. Everyone knows that message board posts from before the draft have a major influence on who makes the roster in September. Gettleman is probably spamming F5 as we speak.
