Agree to disagree. I like the fact that this film took risks and was ambitious. There were some serious flaws but the acting, dialogue, action, soundtrack and story saved it. This was no different than Age of Ultron. Whedon did a very decent job considering the circumstances but it suffered the same issues that BvS did.

Please don't feed me that. As a fan of Civil War, this kiddy version looks so watered down. It'll be a solid flick but it won't come close to the original. That series was so badass. Disney is gonna handcuff a lot of the material.

It was too ambitious. The story suffered because of it. And I get the purists complaints about the movie after seeing it. Batman killing people and using guns?

The movie was sloppy and rushed in a lot of places jumping from scene to scene often times just out of blue.

Marvel built their universe movie by movie slowly building their world in a meaningful way. With DC they packed everything into a single movie that was all over the place because of it. Civil War will have a more natural feeling because of the stories they have previously told in their universe. Same can't be said for this movie as much as it pains me to say. It was a humorless movie with a rushed story

Upon reflecting, the only really bad elements to this film were:

- The subplot with Lois (that went nowhere)

- The random cameos (placed so awkwardly)

- The editing (it felt like reading an actual comic book) and pacing

- The CGI (Doomsday still looked crap, and so did the Trinity fight)

- The story was so convoluted (Snyder and Terrio added WAY too much)

Everything else was top notch.

You listed like major parts of the movie as being really bad but still give it a 8.5? Lois subplot was stupid, the story and editing are major parts of the movies problems, the fight scene at the end was weak.

it was a 2 and a half hour movie that cut 30-40 minutes to keep it under three hours. That's a lot of movie to be stripped away and very rarely does it make the movie better.

Spoiler Alert

First I'll say that Im going to see the film again with a lady friend to confirm my opinions. But I couldn't miss the opportunity to see it with my boys last night.

1. Although the film is 2h and 30 minutes I felt like the plot went by too fast. Snyder just expects to us accept everything he throws at us in this film. Which might be cool for comic book fans but it makes bad film making. In comparison to the Nolan films, this film asks us to suspend our disbelief where Nolan's films convince you of it.

2. The best part of the film is watching Batman kick everybody's ass.

3. Jesse Eisenburg was complete crap in this movie. He was the same as he is in all his films. He just revealed himself to be a one note actor in my opinion. His crazy was not convincing and it just looked like Snyder's direction was, "Just talk a little faster".

4. The reveal of the justice league characters in the meta human sequences were really lame in my opinion. Also Flashes appearance in Bruce's dream just didn't look good at all.

5. Affleck is fine as Batman. The saving grace to this film for me right now is the future solo Batman films. Should be an interesting universe. However I also wonder how they will go from Batman facing Superman to facing his normal thugs again.

I know I shouldn't compare the Nolan films to this but watching this movie just really makes you understand how special those films were. If WB could get Nolan and Bale back they would make a hell of a lot more money in Batman solo films than any Justice League film. I know that won't happen but they are just great great movies.

In general my opinion is the problem with DC movies is that ever since the fanstastic Dark Knight movies they take themselves too seriously.

Marvel movies are just more fun.  Not everyone likes that, and enjoys the darker brooding DC movies which is fine.

But Marvel movies are what summer movies are all about, they are big, and funny, and over the top, and I feel that DC movies are trying to remake the feel and tone of The Dark Knight and I find that the movies are just not very fun to re-watch

Based on the trailers though Suicude Squad looks interesting and could be a fun movie.

Just my humble opinion

Just saw it.

It's bafflingly how awful that movie is. Plot holes, plot holes galore. Scenes that seem to be randomly inserted for no rhyme or reason. Overly serious score. Superman is reduced to a emo statue that doesn't even know if he wants to save people. Batman wants to kill Superman, yet because their mothers have the same name he does a 180 and they turn into bffs seconds later. Like, this movie is scifi level bad writing and directing, except with a $250 million budget and Ben Affleck.

Zach Snyder is on my poo list for f'ing up what should have been an amazing, kickass fun movie.

Affleck shouldn't take it personally. It's not his fault they gave the film to Snyder and DC wanted to take short cuts building a universe at the expense of the story and movie overall.

He's probably just frustrated. The filming of this movie was going on while his marriage to Jennifer Garner was falling apart. He put everything he has into this role, but only as an actor.

There's talk of him directing a solo batman movie, but that'd be way down the line at this point.

Snyder is just fugging terrible. He failed miserably trying to juggle two superheroes, what the hell is he going to do with the entire justice league?

If I'm DC I throw an ungodly amount of money at Nolan and say "fix this, please!"

DC's decisions with their heroes are questionable at best at this point.

Tbh I hate the Flash casting. Ezra Miller is not Barry Allen.

Nolan coming in to save it would be awesome, but can't see it happening. Saw it this afternoon...

6/10 probably to me. Maybe a 7 because Batman. Random incoherent thoughts will follow.

As already said, editing was poo and jumpy, Snyder got too happy and Snydery in a lot of places, Jesse Eisenburg sucked to me (he was Lex's son, but still...wtf was that), and frankly I've never liked Henry Cavil as Superman. No real reason I can point to, just a personal bias or maybe how boring his Superman is? Not to mention, get Lois Lane the fug out of so many important moments, while her and Superman stare into each others' eyes while the big battle is going on. Another thing that always just bothers me about Superman in general (leading to the newspaper article at the end) showing a picture of Clark...come on, Kent and Superman look exactly the same. Stop pretending he has a secret identity/desk job. Doomsday, meh. The CGI in the last 30 minutes was all you could concentrate on. The dream sequences made no sense to me and I didn't care for the way other JL members were "introduced". Ezra Miller, recast him now for all I care.

Affleck was decent. But Batman obviously killing now just gets thrown out there. I liked Wonder Woman and found that one of the few moments I really liked was her obviously showing up at the battle (even that went full Sucker Punch at times). IF they would've been serious with the DC/dark theme and just hit the religion angle or another serious one the entire time, Nolan Style, this might've been great. The 9/11 parallels hit home...could've spent more time pursuing a similar angle and tone throughout even. Instead, it was Zach Snyder blowing stuff up with heroes. I've liked some of his movies before, but I don't know...Nolan may have just spoiled DC movies from now on and set the bar too high.

I have a little faith in future Batman (or maybe Wonder Woman) movies...but I'm not even looking forward to JL movies. As a huge Batman fan it sucks, but Marvel (who I also like) is about to take their dick out and shove it down DC's throat for years to come unless a miracle happens.

I went in with tremendously low expectations and came out thinking it was okay at best.

I was hoping for a Dark Knight Returns plot, but the movie only gave the comic a veiled homage.

For those that have also seen it, who could Lex possibly be referring to at the end?  I don't want to get into spoilers, but I feel like the caped crusader has pretty much faced his biggest foes at this point, right?

I've always thought they'd go Darkseid to not pay too much attention to a specific Batman foe, etc., but his comments to me sounded like 1. not of this planet (so no Earth foe) and 2., he said something like "he's hungry" or something? Maybe not meant to be literal, but I couldn't think of anyone.

With the damage control they're doing now in interviews, it wouldn't surprise me if WB goes okay fug it, we've got to put the Joker in this thing.
