Seahawks GM hints he'll just let Wilson walk if he doesn't lower his demanded price.

I would also like to add that you are seeing the result of the expensive contracts they are paying the defense.  2 years ago, these guys were on cheap deals.  No longer.

Wilson is crazy if he thinks he is elite.  take away a good OL, Lynch, and he is running scared.

The GM is absolutely correct,  He could put Derrick Anderson under center and get similar results.

Yeah, just look at what Harbaugh did for his QB's.

This is for anyone that doubts what a good offensive system and defense can do to/for an average or below average QB.

Again, what Wilson and Newton and Colin and Dalton every one else should do, or should have done, is wait for Luck to sign his 25 million/yr dollar deal. When no one in the media questions why his overrated butt is getting paid 25 million a season, ask for something similar.

When Luck once again fails to not have the highest QB rating, or lead his team further than everyone in his QB class, despite having by far the best talent/ easiest schedule, point to that as the basis of your contract.

This time last year the Bears gave Jay Cutler a 100 million dollar contract, and NO ONE BATTED AN EYE.

Many praised the deal and said, "well at least Chicago has their QB locked up long-term" this is despite the fact that Cutler has not accomplished 1/2 of the things Wilson has accomplished.

Matt Ryan, same thing, Stafford, same thing, Rivers, same thing.

Tannehill RIGHT NOW is about to get a new contract from the Dolphins (over 100 million) and NO ONE IS BATTING AN EYE. This after Ryan was about 1 second away from being BENCHED.

----------------------------------------------------

Therefore I find it most comical, that the Huddle, where we have never beaten Wilson, lost to Kaepernick in the playoffs, and lost to Dalton without AJ Greene, that THESE ARE THE QBS that are overrated and should not be paid franchise money.

Newton, who best offensive player WAS A ROOKIE TAKEN AS THE 8TH PASS CATCHER, should not be given franchise QB money.

Yet when Ryan or Cutler or Stafford gets paid..."Oh great...good for them and their organization."  When Luck and Tannehill get their deal..."That's wonderful...those organizations are set for the next decade."

Yet when another collections of QBs (Newton being in that group) WHO HAVE ACCOMPLISHED VASTLY MORE AND HAVE (IN SOME CASES) REPEATEDLY BEATEN YOUR TEAM (MANY TIMES IN THE PLAYOFFS)...

"You know, that team should trade that QB, he is clearly overrated, and has no business being paid like a franchise QB."

Sigh. The Huddle.

The question is: Is the Seahawks still a sb, or even play off, team if Wilson eats $22-25M of the cap?

He is good and clearly worth in the $15M range, but if he demands to be the best payed ever it is the right call to let him walk. Your running have and d still makes you a play off team.

We are already paying premium for cam and like someone said without him we are the Jets. So we have no choice but to pay up. It had nothing to do with cam or Wilson being better, it is all about us not having the luxury of a back up option like you do.

People forget that, Cam into the NFL being the Panthers offense. He was relied on from day one, unlike Wilson.

Newton's never had a consistent run attack since he came into the NFL. And the defense has been either awful or very good. And even when they're rated very good, they seemingly always find a knack to give up/blow games late in the 4th quarter. Of course the Special teams is usually awful as well, not aiding in the overall team or offensive effort.

Wilson, never had to worry about these things with the luxury of leaning on Lynch, and a reliable defense (mind you a competent OC and Head coach).

People say Wilson's team is what wins but honestly he is just a good risk taker. Name one WR Wilson was throwing to last year? Lynch and Wilson make that offense go with some good game planning from there OC. Wilson now has a TE like Cam has had his whole career. Wilson is a good QB just like Cam but the Hawks just have a slightly better team and a slightly weaker div than the Panthers.

You really think the NFC South is a better division than the NFC West?

Never seen anyone who said no other QB misses throws...hence the mark of an accurate QB is usually 60%+ and not 100%

Demonstrably false. He is MUCH better with Cam.

In two seasons with Cutler:

101 catches on 178 targets for a 56.7% catch percentage with a 10.05ypc average and averaging 508 yards per season on 89 targets per season.

In four seasons with Cam:

271 catches on 425 targets for a 63.7% catch percentage with a 11.85ypc average and averaging 802 yards per season on 106 targets per season. If you drop the first season where his catch percentage was much lower than the last three at 50%, you get a catch percentage of 67.4%

So, let's do the extrapolation for Cutler...

Based on the averages, if Olsen averaged those 106 targets per season with Cutler, he'd average:

60 catches for 603 yards.

To be fair, you do have to consider that Mike Martz was running the Bears offense at the time.

Martz never knew what to do with Olsen.
