Seahawks GM hints he'll just let Wilson walk if he doesn't lower his demanded price.

Are you too young to remember?

Jake's skills were nothing in comparison to RW. Mechanics, pocket awareness, consistency.. Not even close. I'm sure Russell playing on another team would expose him somewhat but he's a good qb and any competitive team would do fine with RW. Also, Jake would get destroyed in today's NFL. He was a product of a great running game/defense

Are you too young to remember pre-injury Jake? 2003-2007? (Really started falling off in 2006, but still....)

Jake had a great running game exactly two out of his seven years as a Panther. Defense was great the first half of his Panthers career, but it was nothing special during the back half.

E: and more lolololol for saying a QB known for high floating duck miracle passes has better mechanics than another QB known for high floating duck miracle passes.

seriously dude?  Jake rarely even threw spirals.  I watched him every year even the amazing miracle playoff run of 2003 that was 90% luck.  Sorry but it was.  Jake was never, even in his probowl year considered "elite" in any circles.  Comparing those two QB's is laughable but keep at it.. Without Steve Smith Jake would have never started in the NFL

Without Steve Smith, Jake put up his best statistical performance of his career.

3886 yards, 30 TD (29 passing, 1 rushing), 15 INT

So, you're telling me that Russell Wilson, who hangs behind the line until a pass rusher gets free so he can "escape" (because he can't see over the line), runs around and throws a wobbly ball that everyone hears quacking doesn't rely on luck?

I also noticed you didn't address the issues of defense and the running game.

The notion that a guy's performance is "90% luck" is just ridiculous.

Throw in that one of Jake's best statistical years (maybe the best, I forget) was the year Smitty was out all season.

Jake may not have been elite, but calling him 'trash' is just flat out ignorant.

We don't make the Super Bowl in 03 or the NFCS in 05 without Delhomme playing like he did.

Maybe "trash" is going too far but there were years of frustration where i had to put up with Jake. It wasnt the best of times. I never liked him as a football player. Im sure he was a fantastic fella though

Every player has ups and downs, Cam, Luke and all other current Panthers included.  Jake lost a lot after his surgery.  Thought he'd gotten it back in 08. but it didn't happen.  Cest la vie.

DeAngelo Williams was a prime example.  He did a lot of good for this team even though he declined in recent years.  Calling him 'trash' would be equally off base.

Likewise, Jake was part of some of the best moments this franchise ever had.  The win against the Jags, X-Clown, heck that whole magic season, and he played lights out in the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

You have to put it all in perspective.  Yeah, there were rough times, but there was plenty of good too.

That's not 'trash'.

Lol. That's why he was featured in the 2004 sports illustrated as the next quarterback to break into the elite 5. He was brought up as almost elite several times, which is very comparable to Wilson.

Without Lynch, Wilson wouldn't have near the success he's had.
