Seahawks GM hints he'll just let Wilson walk if he doesn't lower his demanded price.

i don't know why this just now occurred to me, but if cam newton threw a game-losing interception in the suoerbowl a huge chunk of this board would want him gone forever.

interestingly, they are the same people crowing about wilson being better than cam.

hmmm

the "weapons" comparison gets on my nerves because seattle runs a shanahan style west coast offense in the general sense. that's a system that leans on a strong rush attack and doesn't need an elite vertical threat to be successful. a wide receiver who can't read coverages and would struggle with the plethora of option routes in that system would hurt a lot worse than one who can do all those things but isn't a freak athlete. meanwhile here in charlotte we had mike shula trying to run a coryell type system with byron bell at left tackle and jerricho cotchery and kelvin benjamin split out wide.

plus wilson is the absolute undisputed king of horseshit when it comes to 50/50 balls and ducks lobbed into triple coverage so there's that

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring up the system comparison.

For whatever you think of Wilson, it's pretty well known that West Coast type systems always inflate a quarterback's stats. That's why you have guys who look like world beaters in Philadelphia suddenly look like egg beaters when they go somewhere else.

In the end, we will pay Cam whatever it takes to keep him. We just have to hope that he hasn't already hit his ceiling. We could go far with him, or we could have already seen the best, we just don't know.

We do know, however, that if he ever gets free from us, we will immediately slip back into the pool of mediocrity and sink back down among the bottom dwellers of the league. How long we stay there will be a function of when we can correctly draft the next big thing in QBs or pick up just the right free agent on the upswing. And neither of those is easy to do. Coaches and general managers leave town over just this problem, again and again.

Cam is both our best option and our worst handicap. He's good with the potential to be great, and he has the keys to the vault. I sure hope it pans out right for the long run.

Newton, who best offensive player WAS A ROOKIE TAKEN AS THE 8TH PASS CATCHER, should not be given franchise QB money.

It's getting a little old how most of our fan base seems to ignore the fact that we have a top 5 tight end as our best offensive player. I'd be pretty tired of hearing Cam had no weapons if I was Olsen.

I certainly put lots of that blame on Wilson as he was staring the receiver down the entire time!!!

I put way more of the blame on Carrol though...it was a shitty call that I'll never ever agree with.  In the very least, line up with Lynch in the back field and have Baldwin or Kearse in that position if at all.

Lol yeah right man. Jake was trash and never had an arm or pocket presence like Russell

Jake had an absolutely uncanny ability to make clutch plays when the game was on the online.  That was the best trait that he brought to the table.

I would LOVE to have Cam's running and throwing ability with Jake's moxy.  Would be a HOF.

wilson does most of his damage throwing on the run.  the whole idea when gameplanning for him is to keep him in the pocket and play contain because he's way less dangerous hemmed up like that.

delhomme didn't have great pocket presence (lots of fumbles and stepping into sacks there) but to frame it up like wilson does is just lol

That I can agree with.  There is no way, with any other mediocre QB, that we get to the superbowl in 03'.

lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

Are you too young to remember?

Jake's skills were nothing in comparison to RW.  Mechanics, pocket awareness, consistency.. Not even close.   I'm sure Russell playing on another team would expose him somewhat but he's a good qb and any competitive team would do fine with RW.  Also, Jake would get destroyed in today's NFL.  He was a product of a great running game/defense
