A Question brought up from IGO's latest podcast?

WOW!!

IMO WR corp for this year will be KB (#1), Cotch (vet experience), Ginn (return specialist), Hill (vet and size), Philly B (upside), and draft pick. (Note: would like Jennings as vet, however, going with what's in house now.)

Depending on the type WR we draft.. I'm starting to think Brown won't make it..

Let me explain this..

The stuff you can't teach like 4.2 speed and 6'4 size he has..

The stuff you can teach route running, catching the ball .. He needs to work on..

So he has upside because no matter how good a coach you have... He can't teach Bersin to run 4.2 fast and he can't teach Philly to be 6'4..

So maybe we can give Usain Bolt a hat on Sunday's too. Exaggerating for clarity purposes but running routes and catching balls are part of the game. Not sure how long he's been in the league but at some point you have to conclude that there are limitations to what the guy can do on Sundays.

This will be his 4th season and the only reason he is still here is upside and the coaches think they can teach him the stuff you can learn..

Honestly, the only receivers that I see as definite at this point are Benjamin, Boykin and Ginn. And if the Panthers value Cotchery's vet presence, then maybe him if he isn't considered a liability, in that he is taking the spot of someone with some tangible, practical upside.

The remainder are in for a real dogfight. Hell Boykin could be in that mix as well if he doesn't immediately pull away from the pack like I think that he will. We already know what we have in Jco, so he really isn't in the fray, he may just be expendable due to age.

Hill, Lucas, Bersin, Presley and C. Brown is anyone's guess. People are just assuming because Brown is the small guy with marginal speed that he will be kept depending on who we draft. Well one guy that people are forgetting about in that same class is the other Brown: Mike. There is a real argument that he could boot Corey out the door, just as much as an Agholor, Dorsett, McBride or Montgomery for example.

I wish/hope our coaching staff takes Cam's desires into consideration. He needs to be comfortable with his receiving corps even if they aren't fan favs. Superman needs to be included more in the offensive planning anyway.

Maybe I'm an idealist, but how hard would it be for Gettleman and Rivera to call Cam in when cuts start and simply ask him who he trusts the most to be where they are supposed to in a route, stretch the field, make a clutch catch, be a dependable possession guy, etc.

I feel like this would make our offense gel better, and in the process would show Cam that we value his input on the offense he runs

Outside of KB, I can't really pick out a definite WR to keep on talent alone...including Ginn.  Salary and PR wise, Ginn should most likely make it though but we have a lot of meh guys if you look at them as purely receivers.

I pretty much agree except for Ginn is a lock because he is the primary punt returner..

And any early round draft pick is a lock..

Everybody else is battling for a roster spot..

Lost me at Boykin. He's among the least likely to make the team.

Well then you and I totally disagree. I have been telling people since he was signed that he would make the team based on his versatility, real productivity when he got his opportunity, and his YAC. His 2013 season was not a fluke. Big, young, strong, nice route runner with good hands, and a great red zone threat. I don't see how he doesn't make it.

How do you explain last year?
