A Question brought up from IGO's latest podcast?

Hill can't have any upside if he cant catch the ball. How are people still high on this guy?

Let me explain this..

The stuff you can't teach like 4.2 speed and 6'4 size he has..

The stuff you can teach route running, catching the ball .. He needs to work on..

So he has upside because no matter how good a coach you have... He can't teach Bersin to run 4.2 fast and he can't teach Philly to be 6'4..

Btw Brown isn't going anywhere. He returns kicks, is a gunner, and a receiver. He plays more positions than any other WR we have.

He was a gunner for a special teams unit that was 32nd in punt return yard average allowed and 31st in kick return yard average allowed. That's not an endorsement. He also lost the returner job last year and we signed Ted Ginn who is a return specialist. His spot on the team is pretty much solely dependent on his receiving ability. He's got a very good chance to make the team but it is by no means a sure thing. If he does lose out to Boykin or Hill as the 5th WR I do think there is a decent chance we carry 6 WR's on the 53 man roster just because Gettleman/Rivera are so high on him and won't want to risk losing him by putting him on the practice squad.

Another little secret for Philly fan base. .

Philly could be endangered depending on the type of WR we draft. .

Example ..

If Strong or any other big WR is the drafted wr .. Philly is in a good position to make the team..

If Smith, Dorsett, Agholor, Locket are the drafted WR... Goodbye Philly..

Assuming we draft a WR this year..

J-Jones and IGo brought up a great point. . A few guys from last year WR corp aren't making the team..

Facts are..

Lc

We only carry 5 to 6 at the most..

KB , Ginn and the draft picks are locks to make it.. Which only leaves 2 to 3 open spots on the roster. .

not counting Olsen and the scrubs at TE we have along with him:

just 5 WRs on the roster would be:

-KB

-Shiny New Stud Rookie

-Ginn

- plus your favorite Two of: Philly/Hill/Boykin/Cotchery/Bersin

but like you said, we could do 6 WRs (5 WRs plus Ginn for punt returns)

KB

Cotchery

Ginn

Brown

Draft Pick/whomever

Cotchery isn't going anywhere unless we sign another Vet, unlikely.

He also isn't going to lose his spot just because.

Now I'm not saying that we don't draft a receiver, and he works his way ahead of Cotchery.

Just know no spot is just going to be given.

You can't teach new hands.

You can improve hands and catching the ball. This is possible. .

What's impossible is running at 4.2 speed when your a 4.6 guy or being 6'4 when your 5'10..

This isn't that hard to understand. .

IMO WR corp for this year will be KB (#1), Cotch (vet experience), Ginn (return specialist), Hill (vet and size), Philly B (upside), and draft pick (later pick). (Note: would like Jennings as vet, however, going with what's in house now.)
