Civil lawsuit against J. Winston

I'm not saying that sort of thing doesn't happen... but that is not always the case. And if rape isn't about sex, then why have sex? Why not just beat her up and throw her in an alley? If rape isn't about sex, why is chemical castration and a punishment, and why is it effective?

Think about it this way... what is the motivation for mugging? Some people do it for the money, others do it because they like to hurt people, and some do it because they like both. Mugging is not always about money, and it isn't always about hurting people. It's far more complex than that.

I don't know all the stuff associated with it, but I would assume it helps lower testosterone in the person.  Lower Testosterone would lead to lower aggression, lower aggression leads to lower want to do stuff like this.  Also, no worse way to punish a man who uses sex to assert dominance than to castrate him.  Just like you said about mugging, it is a complex thing to understand.

He is exaclty right- it's the power over a woman who would generally have nothing to do with that man, not the attractiveness of the woman. So that book/article is flawed in pointing out that it is generally less attractive men raping attractive women. That is true. Also, sex is the ultimate most intimate violation showing dominence versus just beating a woman up. If it's just about sex with a hot girl, why not get an prostitue? But it isn't always true you're right, just like it's not always true it's a lower economical person doing the raping to a physical attractie girl. There are always exceptions, always people who don't fit the standard, always ways to look at one study or book differently and skew it to make a point. But in general, take from multiple studies accross time (generations), genders, cultures, etc. and power and control are what fuels rape.

Also, castration was a punishment until recentley. In fact I think they still use some sort of hormone altering drugs for child rapist/molesters/violators.

Abnormal Psychology/Forensic Psychology is not my area of study but I have read quite a bit on rape cases (I have a MA in developmental psychology) through miscellenous classes, and talking to sexual psychologists who deal with this stuff on a daily basis.

Exactly.

Many rapists and serial rapists have wives and girlfriends.  Therefore, having sex with a woman is not what they are missing.  It is the thrill of the kill and the power over a woman that they crave.

He didn't have money before now.  That doesn't change the truth which we don't know.  But there is little point in a large civil suit case against someone when they don't have high net worth.  That is no longer the case.

money shouldnt change the fact that someone raped you! There is a point. To seek justice for what someone did to you. But waiting only makes it look like you are in fact all about the money.

I believe this might make the Bucs take Mariota.  If there is a public outcry, I think they will cave in and not want all the attention.  Mariota is The Golden Calf of Bristol off the field, and has great potential on it. (Not saying I believe Mariota is better than Winston.)

Winston didn't do it this girl is trying to ruin him. If you've read what mcdougal posted detailing the case and believe winston did it, you're purely a hater just hoping for a young mans life with a brighter past, present, and future than yours to be wasted away in prison

Oh hey it's the guy from the Darren Sharper thread who insisted he was innocent. Welcome!

It's quite obvious he didn't rape this bitch... I mean look at her.... not exactly "lose your career." Worthy.

rape is not about sex or looks, it's about power. No wonder women don't come forward more often with attitudes like this still present in 2015.

all I said was I'm pretty sure famous people don't need to rape a woman. They dont, sharper could easily have had a woman have consensual relations with him, which he did not. But regardless, Darren Sharpers case has no relation whatsoever to jameis winston's

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
