1st Team All-Pac Left Tackle last season, whick is decided by a vote of the Pac-12 Head Coaches

started every game for last 3 seasons straight (40 consecutive starts), including all 13 games last season at left tackle

his OL coach:

"He's a guy that has got unbelievable ability," Connelly said. "He's very, very athletic. He's long. He's exactly what you're looking for at that tackle position."

coming into the 2014 season:

-NFL.com named him to their list of the 14 "Most freakish athletes in college football," writing:

"Douglas is legendary in ASU's weight room, with a power clean of 385 pounds, a bench press of 430 and a squat of 565. He has gained 40 pounds since arriving at ASU, but his body-fat percentage is in the low teens. In addition, Douglas runs the 40 in under 5.0 seconds."

-and FOX Sports named him #16 on their list of the Top 20 'Freaks' in college football for '14"

The Arizona Republic:

NFL.com recently published its "Most freakish athletes in college football" list, a part of their 14 for '14 series. Included: Arizona State's Jamil Douglas ...

I contacted Shawn Griswold , ASU's head coach of sports performance, and asked about Douglas. He didn't hold back.

"Jamil is a 303-pound guy and with his shirt off he looks like he's 265,'' Griswold said. "And he's so big, so long, so lean, but what's impressive is the things he does with those strength numbers. To clean 385 and be that tall, that's hard to do. The only other guy I've ever seen do that – and I wasn't his coach, he was at the University of Utah when I was at Utah State – was Jordan Gross, and he was a Top 10 draft pick and played (in the NFL) forever. And for Jamil, to bench 430 with those long arms, that's a long way to press a weight."

When Griswold arrived with the new coaching staff in 2011, Douglas weighed 284 pounds. He since has put on nearly 20 pounds, but his body fat is actually lower at 19.98 percent. In addition, Douglas' power clean has jumped from 295 to 385 , joining former ASU linebacker Carl Bradford as the only players Griswold has coached to put up such a number. Douglas' back squat has increased from 433 to 566 pounds.

"He's one of our best squatters," Griswold said. "That's impressive for a big guy to be able to get down as deep as we make them squat, and to get to the next level you got to be able to bend."

Jamil Douglas (Arizona St, 6'4", 300lbs) may now be my favourite OL prospect. Excellent build + strength, versatile, short-area speed.

Patriots have interviewed: Arizona State OT/OG Jamil Douglas

Massachusetts paper:

"There is little doubt the Patriots will draft an offensive lineman in May ... Arizona State's Jamil Douglas fits the bill. Douglas, considered a mid-round prospect, confirmed Wednesday that he has met with the Patriots. He could be an option for the Pats in the middle rounds if they opt to address positions other than offensive line with their first few picks."

If #Bucs wait until the 4th to address OL, Arizona State's Jamil

#Didn 'tEvenLeaveAScratch

in 2010, when he was a true freshman doing a redshirt year, he and a teammate stole a laptop computer from a dorm room of another teammate (a kicker) and he got 55 hours of community service and school probation for a year.

The guy he stole the laptop from wrote a letter to the court on his behalf:

"I would've hated to see something like that ruin a guy with a very bright future," Garoutte said. " ... He handled the situation well. He apologized, and we moved forward. We're teammates. He's a good guy, and I know that."

His mom:

"Jamil had never been in trouble his entire life," Walker said. "Never suspended from school. Never reprimanded, nothing. He was like the perfect child, so when I got the call I couldn't believe what I was hearing."

The ASU assistant athletic director for football operations:

"He was a good kid who made a bad mistake,'' Wrenn said. "I reached out to him to try and make sure somebody was there to support him. Everybody makes mistakes in life."

Those are impressive numbers.  Draftbreakdown.com only has one video of him, from 2013 when he was playing Guard.  I'd be interested to look up videos of him.  He is a bit on the short side at 6'4.  Will look up his combine profile for other measurables, like arm length.
