CBS Sports 7 Round Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

IF we draft a qb, it could speak volumes about the Cam negotiations.  But we could draft a qb, trade Anderson....

im honestly not worried about Cam's negotiations. he finishing up school and probably doesnt want to be bothered by it. besides, it seems like both sides are content to let Russell Wilson set the market. Luck isnt getting a new deal this year so thats not a factor. when RW gets his contract later this summer, i fully expect Cam to have his in short order after that.

in other words... i wouldnt read into us drafting a QB. but i would also be pissed because a QB is not going to make this team better right now. not even as BPA.

Holliman might be a terrible tackler, but at least he can bulk up and improve his form. His natural ball skills is something that can't be taught. Also a QB in the 4th would be an absolute waste of a pick considering how much the Panthers like Webb.

Doubt a player like Webb has any real impact on their decision

It does when you consider that they carry 3 QBs already while most teams carry 2. The only reason they keep Webb is because he can help out in special teams and in practice. Spending a 4th round pick on a QB would mean they would have to cut or find a trade partner for Webb or Anderson.

They are carrying Webb because he adds some versatility to the team.  However, he is NOT a QB that you would be grooming for the future.  If they took a guy in the mid rounds to groom as an effective backup (Anderson is getting up there in age), then Webb becomes very expendable.

That was my point.

I get the point, but personally I can't see us taking a QB in this draft, especially not in the 4th round when there are better players out there. I feel like the need for a backup now doesn't outweigh the benefits of having Webb on the roster. If the new acquisitions like Williams and Trusnik end up being effective on ST, then I can see them getting rid of Webb and taking a QB in next year's draft.
