Would you trade Philip Rivers for Mariota?

Tough call really.

I'm too lazy to look into or read about Rivers' contract situation, but if he has a couple to a few years left I think I'd rather draft a younger QB like Hundley/Mannion/Grayson wherever they may fall and let them develop and learn the offense behind Rivers. When Rivers is done, bring them on a la Aaron Rodgers. Wouldn't risk giving up their first, and possible future early round picks on Marcus. Would rather hold onto those picks, get a young and promising QB to develop behind Rivers for as long as possible, and start building an offense around their next starter as soon as possible.

So let me get this straight, he'd rather be sent across the country instead of two hours up the interstate? What am I not getting here?

He doesn't want to move anywhere at all but the theory is he would be willing to go to a place that is an hour north of he and his wife's hometown and play for a coach he likes rather than retire.

I only see the Titans making that trade if it's swapping firsts and they get Rivers. #2 overall for Rivers straight up would be moronic.

Well, the writer is a moron, so....

The Chargers should get the No.2 pick from the Tennessee Titans, select Mariota, then take a running back with the No.17 pick. Start over in a big way.

Yes, the Chargers in all likelihood would keep their first round pick should they deal Rivers to Tennessee. They may, according to some around the league, have to throw in a selection in a later round. But people are really just speculating, since there is no precedent for trading a quarterback of Rivers’ stature at this juncture in his career for a draft pick(s).

It can, however, be done. It should be.

Think this trade ends up working out badly for both sides. Tennessee is not a good football team that's just missing a qb, they suck. Rivers only has one year left on his deal and could bolt (no pun intended) after next year. San Diego is getting a gigantic unknown in Mariota
